Not sure if this guy is try'n to pull a fast one on me , but here is the tale . I put an ad up for the OCC schwinn chopper still in its box online . I got a responce from a guy in the UK, he asked some odd questions .Was this stolen ?Do i have proof of ownership? Send me your full name address ,phone ,cell phone, fax me your id (wierd),stuff like that .No credit card info was asked of me .Then he said he prefers to pay by money order .I told him the shipping would be very high .He writes back to me , saying not to worry that he has an international shipper that takes care of all that and would come to my house .SCAM? I have heard of fake money orders and cashiers checks .My hessitaion would be i ship the bike and 2 weeks later the checks no good and he gets a free bike ? Am i just being paraniod ?Thanks for the help .. Sorry RYAN if this is a bit OT .
it's hard to tell if it's a scam or he is just trying to be safe......i'd tell him you prefer to sell it to someone local.. it will be easy to sell it to someone in the US
Truth is, if he's genuine, he is probably as scared of being scammed/ripped off as much as the rest of us are. Hence the 3rd degree about things. If in doubt, stay away! Then you can't lose. Don't ship anything until your bank WRITTEN GUARANTEES the money order/cheque/bankers draft etc is clear. Even cash is suspect, though I can check it for you, send to ........
TOO many weird requests... faxes of YOUR ID? Full name, address, telephone number, cell, etc. Then he's going to have his buddy come to YOUR house? I don't know if it necessarily a scam, but I wouldn't give all that stuff out to someone that I'm trying to sell something to. Sounds like he might be just sending his "muscle" over to your house to get the **** for free. Tell the ****er to "****** off"- he'll know what it means!
Hey scooter , with all that info I could get your credit card numbers , social security number , your driving record , criminal history( if one exists that is ) your birth place , credit history , etc. etc. Get it ? tell that ******* to send all the same info first and then go piss up a rope .****em. uhemmmmm . sorry , just makes me a little angry .tis a scam my friend.Don't do it. You are on the husp of ruin. swaZZie p.s. if it looks like a duck and it sounds like a duck . . . .
Maybe you could ask for his phone # ? Done that many times when I have bought exspensive stuff from the USA , and it has usually been a pleasant way to do a deal If he won`t give you his phone# , then , let the deal go!
Sounds very scammy to me. 99.9% sure of it. Please understand this lowlife has probably never set foot in the UK. Tell me, is his email address at yahoo ot hotmail? I advertise stuff, and if it is a genuine enquiry, it normally starts with something like; "Mart, is the Pop still for sale? If it is, give me a shout, Bill Bloggs" If you dont know if something is still for sale you dont write half a page of email saying you definitely want to buy it. Most bogus ones start with; Hello I am Mr Willaim Blog from Italy, I want to buy your MARTS FORD POP PROJECT .... Need I go on? Mart. Mart.
Sounds like a scam....Is it worth the small amount of profit to deal with it?...probably not. But if you do sell it(to anyone), Western Union now has a money order service. The buyer calls them with HIS credit card number and Western Union sends you a money order. They also notify you by email that the deal is being done.
I am pretty sure it is a scam and your idenity is in danger of being stolen. A real test of whether the buyer is sincere is to have him send the funds to you via Wester Union Wire direct to the nearest Western Union outlet near you. Western Union locations can be found at their web site. With this method, you get cash quickly. If the buyer is legit, he/she will not hesitate to honor yur request. NEVER give your personal info to anyone who does not have a legal need for it.
As popular as the "nigerian money scam" is, someone would have to jump through some serious hoops before i'd send something overseas. This kind of stuff must be a serious money maker, as popular as it seems to be. Same thing with the ebay id email scams...
Now this has taken a familar twist .Not only does he want all that info , but he wrote this in his latest e-mail . This deal is based on trust and i trust you .You said an offer was made of 350$ and another for 400 , i will pay 450 for the bike . I have a couple of cars i am also buying in the states and will send my shipper over to you . I will make out a western union money order out to you for 3,450 $ all i ask is you return to ballence when cashed .Then he asked for all prior info again to be faxed .But did not give a number . Now i was born at night , but not last night ! I think i shall run away from this joker . THANKS YA ALL . Hope others can also learn from this deal as i did BEFORE my hard earned money went fly'n out the window .
We get loads of scams from adverts placed here in the U.K. The usual send you a money order for item and shipping , you need to cash cheque and pay shipper on their behalf sort of deal. They are usually in bad english and read very typical of a spam e-mail with no real personal references outside of the standard computer generated bollox. Most start off in Nigeria. If in any doubt , **** him off , you can always sell to a local guy. It sounds like too much h***le. If you really want to do the deal with him , tell him your friend in the U.K. wants to verify him and you need his tel. no. Give me the number , I will call him for you.
Has anybody ever had that mysterious "international shipper" ever come to your place to pick up anything?
