So. How many times did you take the front suspension off your car this weekend?

In the quest to get the Ditch Finder Generals stance to my liking I have collected a plethora of coil springs, so armed with a loaned spring compressor, I decided to go about getting it sorted once and for all.

    This is where I started.

Looked fine but the crossmember banged the tarmac more often than the headboard at the local Bordello on pay day...

Reason for this was a combination of Camaro front clip, 2" dropped spindles and 6 cylinder coil springs.

Looked great but the local council were looking for the person that kept pulling the cats eyes out of the road. Ho Hum [IMG]

So, off we go with the first set of springs, Heavy Duty Camaro spring standard ride height.

Aaarrgghhh! My Eyes! ****** thing looked like a G***er with about 3" between the arch and the top of the tyre. Looked so bad I could not bring myself to even take a picture.Needless to say loads of ground clearance, just could not be bothered to measure it but looked about 6" at least.

Second set. 2" lowered uprated springs

I knew these were not going to be of much use but, as I could now change the springs in under an hour, why not give them a try!

Asthetically pleasing but, ha ha ha ha ha ha ha. The crossmember was nearly touching the Tarmc without my mince pie laden frame sitting in the cab.

Looked good but not practical in terms of the cats eye protection league...

    So. What to do...Mmmmm...

Ah HA! Out with the trusty grinder and remove half a coil.... Oh Bollox to that, whack a whole coil off and stop being a ****.

So, here we are now. Heavy duty springs with a coil whacked and 2" dropped spindles. What do you think?

I know have about 3 1/2" clearance at the crossmember, the HD springs have helped tremendously and I now only get the odd light contact between crossmember and tarmac so I am a happy camper [IMG]

Next job is to put the Moon disks back on, clean the white walls and sort out the door mirrors!

The DFG is now mobile and no, I will not help you move house [IMG]

looks cool but in these parts it'd be pretty hard to get about . i didn't touch mine this weekend just drove her . the potholes around here were doing a fine job of trying to take it out for me , hence why it'd be hard for yours to get around here !!!!!!!!!!!!

With the old springs on the truck I was pushing the gravel along our drive way! Not really suitable for a vehicle that gets loaded with all sorts of junk.
