got a bit more done on the coupe,

got a gennie shifter (thanks Mr. Gambino) and put it in tonight so i could build the sub-floor section, but before i did that i decided that it would be a good idea that i have the driveshaft in too and not just a peice of tape and some guestimating! so i cut the drive shaft down to lengt and made sure i brought home the correct u-joints.

then it was off the th subrails, i made the cross stuff out of 1x2, and all the stuff front to back out of 1x1, the tunnel pieces are 1/4 x2 flat bar bent to the tunnels desired shape.

next step is to make all of the floor pan sections, lots of bead rolling and metal breaking to come.

    ***us

p.s. i wish i was shorter, my back is killing me from bending over and working on the subrails.

6-1/2 chop and 3-4 inches of channel, the whole bottom of the car was gone so i acually measured form the top down to get it all level on the frame.

ill bring this post back from its fast death!!

got some more done on the floors so i figured id add them to this post

got the floor pan panel made then installed also did the drive shaft tunnel and the trans tunnels, i ended up making the front edge of the tunnel smaller that i was gonna at first, decided i didnt nead as much room as i left, so im gonna have to patch back in the firewall where the gap is, luckily i saved the piece i cut out so all i have to do is cut the new inner dia and weld it in.

also got some mandurel U bends and some header flanges from Matt at lakeheaders.com thanks budd.

so i made up one of the headers.

Borrow away, if i didnt want anybody to use the idea i wouldnt post any pics, i learned it from a friend of mine.

i dont have any more pic of the process but.......

basically i make patterns that fit into the holes in the subrails, then i take those patterns and scribe them onto the sheet metal, i add 3/8" to the outside edges, then flip it over and make scribe lines from corner to corner for guides for rolling the beads in the panels, then i take the panels over to the sheet metal brake, then turn them back over so you can see your original patern scribes, then i brake all four edges to 90 dagrees, then you have a panel that will fit into the subrails, if that all makes sense!

    thanks,

haha, buy hand, they arent perfectly symetrical but damn close, i had way more than enough lenght and just used that as leverage, and put it in my vise and slowly worked it. i think one of those benders they make for that purpose would be nice but i didnt have one. everyone asked why i used 1/4 x2 flatbar anyways, i just figured its gotta be strong, i used 1x2 for the cross braces and just felt that this was comperable.

i think i made the tunnel out of 18 or 20 but im bettin 20, it bends pretty nicely, i just made patterns that fit as close as a could and then cut em out in metal and then had the trusty aviation snips on hand for final fitment.

    jeff

oh yeah, i think im just gonna use one of the cheepo chrome s**** gas pedal, it should fit good.

hey, at least the truck aint going no where, everyone has there own pace in the hobby.

i really dont have that much money into the floors, maybe $100 or a little more, the steel is 18 guage i think a sheet of that is like 30-40$ but i could be wrong, i have a freind order my steel when they put in an order for themselves, it helps out on the prices.

My bead roller is out on loan at the moment, and i forgot to take a pic of em, my dad built them long ago, they are older than me, they have rolled a many a beads and bent alot of metal!

i got a few more progress pics

got the taillight/ liscence plate area all set up, i tell ya what, the new vintiques pontiac taillights dont bounce, i found that one out, a little super glue and it will tide me over till i get a new lens.

got the back window panel all welded up and repaired buy the trunk lid, it was f---ed up but its better now.

got the little filler panel above the gas tank welded in.

also got the firewall trans tunnel area fixed after i cut a little to much.

and we also got the body back off the frame, i forgot to remove the tack welds holding the body to the frame before i put floors in it, whoops, what a *****, but we got it.

i also have to finish making the wheel well panels

a buddy offered to sandblast the body on monday so i think im gonna take him up on it.

then i have to get working on the rear suspension, i dont know if ill get the rear suspension done for the MN extreme show im taking it to but at least it will roll.
