Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by NVRRDUNN, Jan 6, 2008.

  1. Any Hambers out there who live near (within 10-15 miles) the track who could recommend a good motel or flop-house for me and the ol' lady thats about the same distance (10-15 miles or less) from the track? plan on flying in on thursday and leaving town on monday. I would drive my A coupe but wont quite be done then...but...maybe NEXT year. Thanks.:)

Other than the hotel on the track property the hotels closest to the track are not the nicest places, Unless you just dont care where you stay and you plan on showering with you shoes on. There is a hotel between the airport and the track that is nice. It is a Sleep INN 5845 Rockville Rd , Indianapolis, IN, US, 46224 | Phone: (317) 247-4100 Fax: (317) 247-1559.

You might give it a try. I would stay away from places north of the track such as anywhere on 38th street.

There is also a few hotel right at the airport and a few nice places in Brownsburg, about 5 miles directly west of the track off of I-74.

If you find a place and would like an opinion of the area just send me a PM and I will be glad to help if I can. I work directly across from the track. I am looking at the back side of the stands in the south shoot between 1 1nd 2 from my office.

One more thing. Regardless of where you are staying you should probably be getting your reservations soon. Two reasons. Obviously rooms become scarace but they also get more expensive the closer it gets.

Good luck and I hope you enjoy your self.

Tracy gave you good advice. Anything around the airport is good. It's also only about 10 minutes from the track. Have fun and stay outta jail!!:D

Like Tracy said the Sleep Inn is very good. There is a Sleep Inn, a Comfort Inn and a Wingate Inn as well as a new place (just built) all together in one spot.
Any are very good with good neighborhood etc.
I ***ume you are planning on attending the race? There are usually some tickets available around the shop area each year as well.
Some park at my shop and others park in my front yard each year.
I can save ya a space ( no charge to hambers) just let me know i am only a few blocks from the track with pretty easy access etc.
    Glad to help...

Way back when, ok so it's only been about 10 years, we would camp in the big gr*** field right across from the track. That was about the only perk of having family on the safety crew though

Personally, I'd stay downtown. There's a reasonable amount of nightlife going on for 500 week and the track commute isn't really that bad. You might even find a hotel doing a shuttle.

PS, don't mess around with actual track parking. Pay to park in somebody's yard, it's way easier getting in and out. Have fun!
