Which flexplate do I need to use to mate the engine and trans? The 2004r or a turbo 350? Are they the same? Starter is out of a Mercruiser-what is the correct # of teeth for the flexplate?. Thanks HAMBers.

Get the flexplate and starter that fits the engine, it should have the correct bolt pattern for the converter. The converter will take metric bolts, though.

I don't know what starter a mercruiser has, does it use one long bolt and one short one and need the 153 tooth flywheel? or two long bolts and needs the 168 tooth?

Some marine starters bolt to the bellhousing. The 200 trans will work with a 153 tooth flexplate so use the straight across bolt starter. If you need an application for your parts store try 68 camaro, 327 powerglide.
    good luck

  5. I'm about 99% sure the 250 uses a 153 tooth flywheel. It also uses a long and a short starter bolt. What kind of carb(s) are you going to use? Making the TV cable work with carb(s) turned sideways is tricky. I ran a 250 with 200r4 until last year when I switched to a 292. I have a sideways mounted Holley 390 cfm carb with a homebuilt linkage for the TV. The stock TV cable wasn't long enough to reach the carb.
