Has anyone out there used the 6v optima red top 6 volt battery? Any thoughts on what a better 6v battery is? It has 800 cold cranking amps, and runs 180.00.
    Thanks

  2. They are great. I have one in my 34 ford roadster. It has been in for the last four years and I never have a problem. I only use the car in the summer. The antique battery people use them inside the Ford script cases.

Ever thought of a 8v instead? more cranking amps, all your 6 v stuff will work on it too

Thoroughly search the Net for the best price. $180 is way too much. I bought two in the past two years for my '30s Fords and paid about $130 each.

Thanks for the input you guys! Well I was trying to take care of this before the stores closed so in the process of just going down to Interstate Battery and paying full price for the Optima, I found that they have 900 amp diesel truck batteries that are 6v. You could weld with this thing! The old six turns over like it has a 12v hooked up to it now.

I agree with all the replies, the Optima battery is the best. Turns over even the most stubborn engines. Put the battery in my Hudson Superjet and it turns over so fast that it sounds as if it has a 12V battery cranking the starter. Yes by all means keep with the Optima.

  10. I got an Optima in my 6V driven '53 Lincoln Capri rag topper.
    It cranks pissah!
