I love the way that car flows....

Funny story about Don for me was i went there with my Dad...It was almost time for closing and this guy goes by me pushing a mop in a bucket down the aisle but kind of bumps into me..So as i turned around thinking i got splashed with water the guy starts to apologize to me and puts his hand out so i look up only to see Don there...I cant lie,,,i got 'star struck' for a moment cause heres a guy i looked up to in all these magazines over the years standing in front of me apologizing for splashing water a little bit of water.....He is one of the most humble guys i think...There been alot of post on here bashing him but everytime i've been there..He has stopped what he was doing to talk or take pics....Its a shame that people recently have been stealing things and tampering with the cars lately....But anyways, sorry to hijack and hope you keep us posted on the car...It truely looks great!!

  2. I dig the car also, I'm a big fan of not keeping the big radius at the back of the quarter windows, Some people like to cut out that radius and keep it, I think it makes the quarter window look like one of those port windows that ruined so many good panel vans back in the seventies. Definitely inspiring towards working on my '40 pontiac, I'm still torn on the chop though, I wanna do it, but after seeing the stock height, orange '40 chevy that Gambino did it's making it a really hard decision.

Thanks PBR, I've got a few more pics of the quarter which kinda shows the tight radius on the quarter matches the radius on the door opening.

Looks way better! I agree on the quarter window comments. Maybe hard top it or just delete the quarter windows? Maybe photochop it first..

I agree, I wouldn't change a thing. You don't need to please anyone but yourself. I think you did an awesome job. Waiting to see the finished product.

  15. That's a nice, pleasing chop, well thought out. Keeping the drip rail is A+++. I might have put a larger radius at the rear of the quarter window but the more I look at it the better I like the match to the rear of the door opening. Looking forward to seeing it in person.

I agree with whoever said that GM didn't make any bad looking '40 anythings.

Charlie, I believe I met you in kalamazoo a few years ago at the HAMB chow down area. Denny Lesky and I was talking to a guy named Kurt with a green modified. I work with Denny in his shop on and off when he gets projects in and wants a little help. thanks for the pat on the back! cya, Jeff

Beautiful car-the drip rail was the way to go. I like the quarter window sharp angle, wonder what it would've looked like if you had followed the radius of the drip rail and ran the corner back a little farther. Might make the window too big. You should be proud-a really good looking job.

  21. I don't know if you have seen this car,but it's a beauty! It was at the GNRS last year, next to the Suede Palace.

I like all of it, the haircut, the drip rails, the quarter window and the skirts. Awesome work on the –40.

  23. Hats off to a fantastic job so far. I think you're really nailing the proportions and the drip rail just adds to the factory look. (the double take factor)

Too funny. I was thinking that when he said "Copy Cat" that you wouldn't be if you did 2 but when I only saw one...

I was at Mike's Thursday night to pick up some parts and the trans that he was supposed to give to me a year ago when he got tied up doing the FIRST skirt on his car! Another year and he might have the second done. Maybe you should just go ahead and do 3 and give him one.
