I'd just die for that PT Cruiser! Looks like you guys had a great time mudding! We use Jeeps & the like up here in the PNW for mud bogging.
Is that Spike's old Cdan stuck in the mud? Great pics Caffeine. Thanks. Kinda takes the sting outta not being able to be there.
Yea, thats Spikes Old Sedan. All I can say is Thanks Larry and Everyone that helped put this show on. Another great year. Had a blast talking to everyone. The rest of the summmers shows will have alot to live up too. Can't wait for next year!! Scott
OK HAMBERS.. Heres my shortened take on the show. Yes, its still early in the season, but, this may be the best show I attend all year. I hit some rain on the way up to the track. Rain-X with no wipers at 80mph isn't fun. John, the other Philly Pack Rat, was nervous as hell. I laugh at danger... Got to the show and met up with my New York Pack Rat brothers. Great to see you guys! By the time we rolled in there were a ton of traditional rods and customs from just about everywhere. I was surprised at the amount of cars built (and being built) in Western PA. Fantastic stuff... Set up the CKD tent and went off shooting. Then I heard the track was open! Sweet. Jumped in the coupe with Tack and off we went. After a lap I realized there was still a water truck in the way.. Hmmm. Track was not open yet. Larry politely escorted me off. Since no hot laps were allowed, I took the low road. That coupe just won't get stuck! Parked the coupe and started to make my way around. Ran into just about every East Coast car guy (and girl) I know. What a great turn out! The So-What 999 car made its debut, Sumo had the So What twins working the booth. Two cute blondes. Identical twins.. Damn. Thats a TV show right there.. Lined up for another lap around the track and when my turn came, AssGasket and I hit every mud bog we could find. Then, on turn three..tradgety strikes! I hit a monster mud bog and the car sputters and dies.. Uh Oh. Pushed her off the track and imediately was helped by my Pack Rat comrades. Found the problem ( water in the dizzy cap and a loose wire on the ballast resistor) and let the car bake for a while. Watched the rest of the cars run, including some very hot laps by a couple of '34's. One was Pack Rat NY John. The other I have no idea. Both could drive like pros. After a few dozen more frames I hit the museum, another perk of the show. That place is amazing.. Meanwhile, I missed the awards and didn't give out the stuff Caffine striped while I was away.. I owe you big time man.. Then there were the bands.. The Martini Bothers kicked ass along with 52 Pick Up and more I can't think of. Next up was the vintage sprint car exhibition. The 999 car got to make some runs with Clark at the wheel (Finally..) Washed off some of the mud from the coupe and made it home with only getting pulled over once. Officer told me I needed fenders or something.. we all had a good laugh about that one. No ticket. Just a warning.. . Fenders you say? In closing, great show Larry. Even though the show grew, it still had the same laid back feel as last time. With all there is to DO at this show. I have to say its my favorite. If you missed it. Get there next year. You won't be sorry!
Had more fun yesterday than should be legal!! Lots of great people and cars. I just wish it would have rained more. Clark
thanks. note to self: striping a flat black car that has been sitting in the sun all day on a 90 degree day = not as fun as it looks hahaha. my girlfriend was a trooper too, asside from complaining there was no sinks to wash her hands, she took some great pictures and helped me out a lot! (and didnt complain that I dragged her to a cruse night the night before, and a cruise night directly after the showdown!)
