can anybody relay a good kustom shop/s in orange county? i need to finish my 60 buick, or should i say, someone else to finish. i just dont have the time anymore. and if i do get time, its been building sickles. i need body, mechanical, and ch***is (possible c notch and hanging new rear). any info you know about good shops in or around these necks, please p*** it on. thanks.
funny... first person i thought of was Jimmy. however, jimmy primarily likes to stick to rods. and i think orange county rod & kustom is outta biz...??? i did hear about K Kustom, which i'm thinking is the K A Kustom you are talking about. Nate in Huntington told me about a guy named Kevin who's shop is off gothard in huntington. is that the same place? does he have a website?
Kevin does QUALITY work at a fair price!!! You can't go wrong with them. -stick Check out this post and scroll down to the green '41 Plymouth. That used to be Kevin's personal ride. It now lives in Australia. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=233669 KA Custom 714 375 4787 17702 metzler lane huntington beach ca 92647
Just in case you have the inclination to travel south a bit, Hi-Tech Customs in San Diego is excellent. Abe owns the place and is terrific with metal fabrication. They do body and paint. Mechanical is done at a separate shop that works closely with them. www.hitechcustomsinc.com
thanks guys... i appreciate the help. i called jimmy and talked to him about it. he didnt turn me down but said that it would take at least 5-6 mos before he could bring it in (busy builidng rollers) and that he may not want to do it depending on the actual work needed. i'll stop by one of these saturdays and go over it with him. i also left a message for kevin. it sounds like kevin might be more of the guy to go to for kustoms. we'll see. if anybody knows of work kevin's done, please p*** it on. that green 41 plymouth looks pretty good.
Kevin kicks *** and it one of the nicest guys ever. He's my number one choice of places to go. Affordable. Honest, and skilled to the nines. He's worked on 2 of my cars, and I've got him lined up for another big project. Call him. NOW!!! Also, look under Carps' 2008 Australian nationals thread. The killer light green 41 Plymouth was Kevin's before he sold it down under. Coby
Go to Kevin at KA Custom. I've taken my 57 F100 a few times to have him do work on it. Had him lower it, put in disc brakes and other rebuilds. I've never had any problems. Super cool guy and does amazing work. Everything he's done on my truck is top notch. I've gotten compliments on his work from other well known shops. Totally affordable and Honest. This is the place to go to!! here's the shops info: KA Custom 714 375 4787 17702 metzler lane huntington beach ca 92647

Don't forget Starlite Rod & Kustom in Torrance. Good people who build cool cars. www.starlitegarage.com
Ka Customs, kevin is a stand up dude, knows his **** and does the job right, ive seen a few friends cars come out of that shop looking good.
Wet Works garage in Costa Mesa does great body and paint work. They aren't known for rods and kustoms, but the owner, Joe, digs the old stuff.
dan finks metalworks ,down the end of metzler lane on the left past wheelers and ka customs, ask for biffo(john west)
HEY *****S.......Jimmy is a Hotrod guy. NOT a custom guy! Maybe that's why his shop is called Circle City Hotrods,NOT Circle City Rod and Custom........and yes!,he does amazing work!
Bob, Thanks for the kind words and thanks everyone for the recommendation!! Yes its true I am mostly a hot rod guy, but I have been known to stray from the norm, and do custom full fendered stuff as well. Its funny when I meet people, and they ask me my profession, I usually say I am a Welder/Fabricator. So if it has anything to do with metal and welding I am usually up for it!! As a matter of fact we just had some younger guys that work on Import cars move in next door, they had a car that they needed a turbo installed on, I gladly accepted! It was pretty fun making all the pieces for it. I guess what I am trying to say is if I have room in the shop, and the time I would build just about anything. I just prefer hot rods. Jimmy White P.s. I think about 2 years ago we did a 50 ford shoe box for a customer. It wasnt custom style more hot rod style 427 Ford side oiler, 4 speed, nine inch with big and little Americans it was a pretty cool car.
Both Jimmy and Kevin do hands down kick *** work. There are others too. Alot of the guys that are mentioned have alot of cars in line to work on so they are tied up and like Jimmy said, may take them a while to get to a car that they just get in but the wait is worth it. KNUX!
Nice one Bob! We didnt finish it, we did all the sheet metal work, (lots of rust hidden under the Bondo!) Hung the narrowed nine inch, Fatman Fabrications Front clip, and mounted the motor. The customer is trying to finish the rest. Jimmy White
Hard to believe a 427 would fit in the engine compartment. Most Shoeboxes i've seen with big blocks have the fender wells removed.
