i was driving home today after work and thinking about my build and wondering how in the hell im going to do some of the stuff i want to do to my truck ....i mean you see shows out there that are ok but they don't really go into detail about what it is they are doing you know and i have looked at a lot of books and thought hey im the kind of guy that has to see what steps it take to get there and im sure there are a lot of guys out there that are the same way so i thought maybe a tv show based on rat rod low budget home shop style program that actualy show you all the tricks like where to measure and where to cut but somthing that the average man with a family can do at home with out having to save up and spend big money on having somone else do his project you know it could be like a show on the move going from one cool hambers garage to another dealing with all aspects of a build and the various cars out there anyway just a thought let me know what ya think oh and yes im just starting out and learning my way around a car so no shitty jokes thanks for your input
rat rod??? and no shitty jokes?? as for the rest of your post you got the best tech posts in the world and the best folks to ask right here at your finger tips so why would you need a T.V. show ?? and the H.A.M.B. is commercial free!!
i know that much bro what im saying is i really respect alot of you guys knoledge out there and it would be nice to really see what the hell all goes on in person or a video or a tv show that i could {SEE} how it's done as i am shitty with reading somthing and applying it you know what i mean
Man!... That has to be the world's longest sentence. I guess I'd watch a show like that, because I'm pretty sick of watching 5litre Mustangs being put on the dyno.
Wow that's a long sentence It seems like most of those TV shows aren't really much about explaining the details to anybody. They think we just care about the drama and the personalities and don't waste much time actually showing actual work being done. Maybe the producers of those shows just don't understand any of it, or they think the average viewer isn't interested in the details enough to spend any time on them. If somebody gets in an argument, or throws something, or breaks something, or starts crying, they'll make sure that gets into the show. If they start crying, they'll make sure that gets into the same show at least five times showing the same scene over and over. The stuff that really takes a lot of time building cars never makes it into those shows. They'll show some guy bolt on a ready-made part and act like it was a really amazing feat. I think if you want to really learn something, and like to see people doing it, maybe buy some videos that show a particular sort of job being done. Ron Covell makes some nice videos on metal work.
see know thats what im talking about.{period} i did not even know shit like that was out there good call on that one but you totaly get what im saying though i really don't care about the drama i want to see what the hell that guy working his ass off getting shit done is doing in the back round oh the oscar winning proformance you know and as for my gramer you will have to deal with it im a moron run on sentences is what im good at
It's not a sentence because there is no period at the end. There is already a show on Speed that does this. Chop, Cut, Rebuild. They do all kinds of different projects at different people's shops, anything from Subaru rally cars to restoring the Barris Supervan. Not much drama, needs to be a 1 hour program instead of a half hour. But, then again I am on the HAMB way more than I watch T.V. because it is so much better!
thats cool do they show a chop being done on a car or truck from start to finish? i mean what the hell is a pie cut or a releaf cut or how the hell did he do that cut. baby steps you know, i have never done any of this and would like to know how it gets done .i would really like to donate time at somones garage or shop learning how to do this stuff. i have a full time job as an electrician and have to support my family but like on weekends or what ever just to help out and learn somthing.
Shows are based on ad dollars. This is why they don't show you how to repair anything...only replace everything.
lots of HAMBers live in your area, all you need to do is offer to help out in their shop in exchange for being shown how it's done. a little floor sweeping builds character and teaches humility. wax on,wax off,Daniel-san
yeah ok thanks for the info guys by the way how would i look up tech tips here on the hamb for what im doing is there a data base of them or a different forum page here
T.V. Blows. Havent had a TV since sept. Dont miss it one bit. Well, Im actually wondering what happened with lauren and heidi
That tech post that "OVERSPRAY" did on painting was the shit! It would be cool to see some future tech posts done in that style. TV blows, everytime I watch Chop Cut Rebuild it is the same friggin episode. I think they only made three.
yeah you know what i would have loved to do would have been at jesse's shop when he had them dudes do that chevy tequila sunrise or what ever i mean those guy are THE customizing dudes and even here on the hamb the older guys that grew up in the hay day of the coupe customs and the cool tricks they learned by just fucking doing it cause cars were cheap and if you fuck up oh well it's custom now the price of and old coupe or late 30's pick up's you shit your pants when somthing goes south of cheeze
The one post that mentioned 'ads' has it down. If you're not promoting someone's product there will be NO SHOW, period. Its all about the money. They could care less if anyone learns anything, its TELEVISION!
Personally I'm family free, and at this point my retirement plan is to buy and live in a shop and build hot rods.... But I'm sure there is NO ONE else on the HAMB that thinks like that.
