voltage reducer for fan motor? 1953

    just gettin my heater goin on my chevy, and cant find a voltage reducer for the fan motor. i have found fuel gauge reducers, can i use that, or is it even neccasary? on a brushless motor i would ***ume i dont need one, but im guessing it'll spin twice as fast as designed... i dont want to go thru brushes. what have you guys done

    i got a universal type 12v fan motor from napa to replace one in my 53 stude. it was only 10 or 15 bucks if i recall. or just run it as is...itll work ok just turns fasterand the low speed resistor will get a little hot

    You should be able to get one like the one at Speedway at your local NAPA or other parts house. Be careful where you place it as they do get extremely HOT.

    thanks.... good to know, ill run some exrta wire and put it in front of my radiator just to be safe. so cold out, cant wait for my core to come back from the rebuild shop! got a "daily" dakota, but i hate drivin anything but my chebby when im not workin. but i put twice the miles on ol' blue, just not consecutively:)

    1.5 ohms is too much of a voltage drop and gives you less than 6V to the motor.

    I got a 1 ohm 50W wirewound resistor from one of my electronic suppliers of my business. The 50W rating makes it last forever and you can also use the defroster switch at the same time, if you got one.

    This one gives you the 6V the motor got originally and you save a few $$.
    I mount it in series right up to the heater switch under the dash.

    what about a Mopar ballest resistor??....
