I am adding electronic ignition to my 351W in my 56 effie. Im thinking about locating the ECU box inside the cab on the firewall and also want to bolt the coil to the firewall off of one of the heater core studs. Since I changed intakes, the coil wont fit right on the intake.

Will either of these cause any ignition problems from placing that a further distance from the distributor?

shouldn't hurt a thing....make the connections good, and use a quality factory style coil wire

That's gonna be one long-***ed coil wire...sure you can't mount a coil somewhere closer?

If not, be sure to use a top-quality wire with good connections.

I wouldn't worry about it. Look at how long your longest plug wires are. MSD even makes thru-panel connectors specifically for remote coils.

I run my electronic ignition module box inside the cabin on the coupe. The coil for the Stude points dizzy is inside on the pick up.

i have a set up like this in my old ford, just make sure wherever you run the wires that there's nothing that can pinch them or disconnect anything

  7. Mount the Duraspark box at a location that is easily accessed for replacement:D:D They do not like heat. They do not require grounding, as that is done through the wiring harness. Make sure the wiring connections are good (I always use solder/shrinktubing).

I have a buddy running Duraspark II in his rod in the same locations as you want to use and he has no problems whatsoever with it.
    He's using Taylor ignition wires.
