WOW, this was awesome!!!! As I threw this together at the last minute when BigDad cancelled and left everyone hanging I did not really know how good this would be. After a few phone calls to some local shops, the plan as made and history was to be made. The shop crawl would consist of some of the top Hamb fabricators and builders.
The list
B*** Kustoms
Cl***ic Garage (MarkX)
Don Ross
Killer Ridez
Irrational Metalwork’s
Ken (
Dirtys Speed Shop
ffice:eek:ffice" />
So with the road set ahead I could not get through the week quick enough in preparation for Saturday. I found myself up late Friday night trying to get my shop in somewhat of a customer friendly state as it is usually in total Chaos from the late night thrashes. So Saturday morning rolls around and I head to local doughnut store pondering how many I needed to buy. Called BigKen to verify some attendees etc. I guesed on how many to get and it ended up being just the rite amount I believe. So I sit at my house with boxes of doughnuts waiting for my Dad and Danyelle to show up so we can lead the crawl in a Hot Rod. I mean what’s a garage crawl without hot rods being driven?
So we head out to the first leg of the crawl B*** Kustoms and Cl***ic Garage. When we arrived MarkX had coffee a brewing and B*** had the baddest Dragster movie I have ever seen. I will be ordering that shortly. Huge thanks to B*** and Mark X and his wife for having the coffee etc and getting up early for us. I think everyone mingles back and for the between the two shops since they are next door to each other checking out all the cool stuff both have going. All I got to say is Brian B*** has got a Hot Rod museum started over there on his side and all those early visits to the Swap meets are paying off. If you don’t believe me just look at at the walls.

So as word was given that Don Ross had made it to his shop we were off to the third leg of the crawl. If you don’t know Mr. Ross or his work you are really missing out. A true genuine guy with a p***ion for metal work and it truly shows is his work. Like the Chevy Coupe he is working on. A one off stainless grill that he made a jig for and built from scratch. Very Very Nice. Or the rebuilding of the Scorpion #5 or the current ffice:smarttags" /><?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com[IMG]FED</st1:stockticker> that was in his Jig. Don this was awesome and thanks for opening the doors up for us.

It was getting about lunch time so we headed on to get a bite to eat. Not much for Hot Rod type eatery so we settled for the next best thing. A burger joint with history based on aircraft “Wings over Seagoville”. Called the manager on the way and for warned him we were coming. I think we totaled around 23 driven hotrods and customs and three daily’s. Somewhere in the ball park of 50 plus people. On the way to the lunch we had to cross over on a overp*** from 635 to 175 and as we were getting off the ramp which was probably close to ¼ to ½ mile long Robert (a31mofo) was getting on. Definitely a site to see. As we rolled into Wings I don’t think the manager thought I was serious by the look on his face. He was very generous and happy to see us come. He gave everyone a free drink. This was a great time to socialize and put some Hamb names with faces and cars. It is amazing how big this place has grown and how many are actually lurking, anyhow got some great food, drinks, etc and then it was time to move on.

Next stop was Killer Ridez in Seagoville. I was not to sure about it at first because I knew they were not a traditional type shop but I did know that they build some cool stuff and pop out a lot of work. I think a lot of people got a lot from stopping by there and seeing some different stuff, I know I did. I think they were excited to see us too. Big thanks to Jim also for letting us fill up his parking lot and check out all his cool stuff.

On to the next leg Irrational Metalwork’s. Tim Young is outstanding craftsman. I learn something every time I go over there. I knew this would be a great stop for the Crawl. He has the cleanest fab shop I have even been in. You can eat off the floor at the end of everyday and it isn’t that he does not do a lot of work it is that he takes pride in everything he does all the way up to cleaning and organizing. He was very instructional and I even saw him at the Pullmax doing some schooling. Next time we will get him to do a basic piece for us in it. Tim is usually doing some really one off stuff but it was cool to see he is getting some customers with a traditional mindset. The truck he is building is really a site to see. Can’t wait to see what he has in store for his 38. Anyhow as I was visiting I met a guy here on the Hamb (Ken) that welcomed us to Crawl down to his place where he is redoing Merc. We said I good buys to Tim and his Wife and latterly crawled about 5 houses down to Kens place. BIG thanks to Tim at Irrational for the open shop and parking on the gr***.

On to Kens Shop, Cool little shop that really hit home because he was a lot like me. Uses what he has equipment wise and does what you can to make the best product you can. If you don’t believe me then you need to check out his a pillars and his floor board work in the rear. Maybe he will chime in on his buck he made for putting Dimples in his sheet metal. SO easy to do but you got to see it to believe it. Anyhow awesome back porch Ken and thanks so much for letting us stop by
On the last stop, The Dirtys Speed Shop in Combine. It was hard to come back to my shop after going and seeing all the cool shops that we got to go to. It was really cool to have so many hot rods and customs in my driveway and street. I think the neighbors were scared to come outside. We mingled a bit then the good ole north wind started blowing so we started shutting down. There were guys and gals that had drove over 4 hours to come. Long Distance went to Bill ( Brokenspoke) who drove his 48 Ford from down by <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com[IMG]Houston, Tx. There were many that made the treck from the other side of Ft Worth. Man it ****ed for it to end but I guess like all other things it has to end sometime. I just want to say thanks to all the shops first off that let us bombard on there places, scorer there parts, drool on there tools, etc. I also want to thank all the individuals that made it happen. It was each and every one of you that made it special. This was the baddest Garage Crawl I could have ever imagined much less organized and I say thanks

Hey this is Jim from Killer Ridez. I just wanted to thank all the guys that came out. I think you guys gave my guys some incentives to get some of their own personal projects finished. I know Gene was suprised to see some of the old faces from back in the day. If anyone needs anything just let me know. Great pics. Oh and by the way its Jim not Tim lol

Great looking time. Anybody know who owns the 47-48 light blue ford coupe? Sure would like to talk to them and look over their car. Hope to have my 46 on the road next summer. Kinda ambitious, but you never know. It depends on how my window business goes. If i'm busy it will take longer on the car.
