Kids are one thing, but i've seen adults at shows with no clue about what gets hot on an engine. We never would, but theres not a doubt in my mind that some pinhead would sue a hotrodder. Some people ARE just looking for some little something to sue about, sad but true. That, and the desire to run a hood someday is why I skipped the lakes pipes on my roadster. Plus, I have little kids of my own, and I would feel pretty bad if one of them fell onto a hot pipe.

Life would be much more enjoyable if we didn't have to worry about the "what-ifs". Guess that's what makes us buy insurance. Life is full of risks. Have fun and deal with shit when it happens.
The most well behaved kids will wander off no matter how well you think you're watching them. Aside from that, I'm still wondering about the factory exhaust that's exposed at the end of the tailpipe. The extensions get hot. I wonder who would get sued from that? Anyhoo, another one to think about . . . ever own a black car? The body skin gets pretty damn hot in the sun lemme tell ya. And if it's the summer sun in California or here in the Arizona dez you can get burned pretty good if you don't watch it. A thicker piece of steel powdered or painted black is even worse. Sweetie's girl friend was gonna plunk her butt down on a black painted cover to the controls of a small dam in the Bishop mountains. She was wearing short shorts, but not too short. Ya know how they ride up when the girls lean over or sit down? Sure ya do. When the lower part of her butt cheeks hit the black cover when she sat down . . . I didn't know a human being could move that fast. Probably get the same result if she tried to sit on my black 32 roadster....
Here's another way to think about it guys: As part of my job in promotions I deal with a lot of motorsport "what ifs." Once the burned kids parents sue you for $5 mil, which you don't have, they go after the show organizer and find they don't have it.... Who's next... Wal Mart of course. How could Wal Mart let such a dangerous exhibition happen in their parking lot? Sick world isn't it?
Reminds me of when my intire family got sued, and our insurance settled out of court. Dad thought, "We didn't do anything wrong, so if we tell the truth, we'll be O.K." He should have listened to me,"I didn't do it. Nobody saw me do it. You sure can't PROVE I did it."
we have our cruise nite at krogers (niftee50ees in spring texas) and carry some pretty healthy liability insurance...it causes some grumbling trying to pay for it, but would be priceless come the 5 million dollar lawsuit.
The way i read this is, he's concerned as to whether a person could get sued, if someone was stupid enough, to get burnt by his pipes. After all, it has become a stupid world, where idiots sue, when they get burnt, and sue for a "hot coffee". Nobody said it was right, just facing the reality of"stupid legal decisions" and how it could apply to us all.
when i go to the summit "park em up" in the summer months I'd be worried with exposed headers. I've never had 'em but there are a lot of kids there, and cars are parked awful close to each other. You have to walk sideways between some of them. The idea that a kid could touch them would certainly make me stand very careful guard for a while. I'd probably try to get there early or park off aways if I turned up late. screw liability - it's just stupid to park a car with hot headers in crowd with kids. you may as well be doing burnouts...and we've seen those dickheads doing it in crowds, havent we?
if you burn yourself on a friends stove is it there fault for owning it? I think if you are at a show with your kids you should be responsible enough to think that hey that guy just got here hey son go touch that exhaust..... I mean come on Basically touch my car and burn yourself you shouldn't have your fucking hands on my car.....
Which is precisely what is wrong with our society today - EVERYTHING is debatable in court, and as long as theres a dinero in it for the lawyers, you my friend, have CASE. Oh and people being greedy assholes too. Rat
if your walking side ways between cars you deserve to get burnt because you shouldn't be that close to the cars any way. what do you do when "dickheads" are doing burnouts in the crowd? That's the problem these days. Everyone is worried about offending, or being sued by some one else. We have become so concerned with a "what's in it for us" or "if i look the other way" mind set that we have forgotten what it feels like to stand up for others around you. When is the last time you were sitting in traffic with your family or hell by yourself and the car next to you was blaring thier music and you asked them to turn it down instead of just sitting there an complaining about? or you were at a show and told a complete stranger to get thier kids off the car even if it wasn't your own. You know the one's i'm talking about. The one's that let them jump on the running boards because they want to look inside or they wipe thier hands across a beautiful paint job because they wanted to see if it was a smooth as it looks, or my favorite the guys that love to knock on the car to see if it is steel or glass. I would rather have them grab my wife's tits then to let them do that to my car or anyone else's for that matter. The list goes on and on of stuff that we have all seen children and adults alike do to cars at shows and have done nothing about it. I constantly get dirty looks and the "what are you gonna do if i don't" reactions. But you know what stand there, look them in the eye, stand your ground and set the example. Some where in their lost soul of selfishness thay will realize that they are wrong or atleast someone in the group will and even help you out. The people or family around will look at you awhole lot differently. Because you are the one person not affraid to say what everyone esle is thinking. The common courtesy gene has been bred of of some people over the years and those of use that still got are responsible to re-instill it in others. Along with educating the masses on our culture and lifestyle. Ok I'm done
