I found a 61 olds wagon today. It sports a 3 on the tree and the guy said it was a 394? Damn nice old car with no visible rust. tailgate has taken a small lick but very fixable. No power steering ,brakes or air. I believe it was an 88. It's got to be rare with the 3 on tree. I'm wondering about the engine size. TP
Yep...according to my old "Glenns" repair manual, the last 371 was available in the 59 Olds..all 394's in 1961 except for the little F-85..
The car runs but has a bad ******. Being GM surely there is a replacement. I'm considering it . Car still has the perforated carboard headliner, door panels and original paint 's not that bad. All the gl*** is good and has a perfect grill.
actualy Olds had 371 and 394 in 60 i'm SURE of and i was thinking they still had both in 61. any later than that and i know it was 394 only. i've got a 60 Olds that was original with a 371.
394 / 2bl intake and carb, Starfire , Ninety-Eight 394 ultra high performace 4bl intake and carb ( crome valve covers) just parted out a Ninety-Eight.
According to my Motors Manual both the 2bbl and 4bbl were 394CI in 1961. The 371 ended in 1960. When I was a teenager I got a ride back in the day from one of my hero's in his 61 bubble top 3 on the tree Olds. I asked him how much extra was the 3 spd? He said 159.00 less than the optional automatic.
Oh Damn... You can find the standard transmissions around occasionally. I think I have a ph# of an outfit that might have parts for the trans.
My 61 olds Super 88 4-door had the "ultra-high compression" 4bbl 394, auto, but NO posi. Motor should power a model A nicely. Is your car a 2 door? BEEAAUUTIFUL cars, those '61s.
