    Nice chop !
When my buddy and I chopped our 51, we did not want to mess with the trunk lid so the chop was done to keep the trunk lid stock. It turns out it is the only unmolested part on the car.
Your looks like a lot of work but it looks great.

    More pics please

Check out the 59 chevy rear fender opening. This car is nice. I've seen it around here before. I believe he is one of the "Los Cichinos" and they all have nice cars. TP

  8. That's exactly what I was trying to get away from, and the reason the trunk is taking so long. Just got back from Mexico and started back to work on it. Pics of the trunk area as requsted soon, I promise.:D

  25. Ok, finally got around to messing with the trunk. Kind of a long story but I started out thinking differently than I ended up going now, and so the trunk had been cut into three pieces from before. It probably would have been easier to start with another decklid but I didn't have the heart to cut up another one someone may need, so I decided to punish myself and make do with what I already did.

Here was the first idea, I was going to just weld in the two side pieces and basically change the shape of the trunk and its opening to match the flow from the trim, that's why the sides are gone and the bottom cut off.

So here we are now. I skinned the three sections I had, and cut/sectioned them to fit the opening (opening needs work still as well). You can see the welds where the original cuts were well here, some extra welds also from the original butchering.

And then cut and began welding the sheetmetal skins back together. They are just clamped to the structure at this point due to the structure/opening needing some more fine tuning before commiting to welding the skin back on. Parts of the skin edge will also need to be shrunk or beat into submission to fully touch down to the structure surround.

So there you have it, LOTS of work left of course, with the structure sheetmetal and opening, but it's getting there. If I had to start all over again I probably wouldn't go the direction I have (the trunk work may likely be worse than the top) but once it's all done at least I'll have created the vision that was in my head.....I think.:D

Not to hijack.......but if you like chops and/or fleetlines or both....... Los Cochinos Brothers are doing it correctly here in Houston.
