My pal Randy rolled his Model A around the block for the first time yesterday. Took him 13 months of working time. It is pretty mild
That looks like a wild mild coupe. Looks great. Might not here it comin down the street with all that restrictive exhaust.
[ QUOTE ] Someone buy that man some cheater slicks STAT! [/ QUOTE ] Uh, it looks to me like he already HAS a set of cheater slicks on it... modern day cheater slicks... but whod' want to screw up the look with something older looking? Besides that, traction is already going to be a problem, why make it worse? What a bitchen car though... I think one ride in that "A" would have most people forgetting about "traditional rods" and back building HOT RODS! I think I'm goin to go yank the body off my Model A and put it on a '32 frame... really, I am. How much is it chopped? Sam.
I agree with sam, that is one bitchen looking coupe. Nice work guys and it all flows to the package.--TV
Chopped 4 1/8th. Yes Sam it has DOT MT Street slicks and traction is hard to find. The pipes look cool but sound like shit. It will get collectors and some exhaust.
Sweet! The paint looks purty wet 'n fresh, too. Can only imagine what a ride in that is like. So what was it lke?
he's definately got some skills, bet he has some neat stuff laying around the garage still. Not usually much on retail red but for what little my opinion is worth it looks killer on that car.
I like everything but the red paint and that can be changed... Hey T....I was scrolling down this post and I realized I've met over 50% of the people responding here. You and I've spent time together several times, "A-hot rod is Glenn...met him at DesMoines back in the 80-'s Sam was at the HAMB drags and I got to hang with him a little.. 32 Hiboy [Jeff] is one of my Homies here in Omaha...known him for several years....... cool..............
Heres the deal on the red paint. Randy likes Orange, his ChevyII is Orange. 2 other rods in this small town are Orange. He wanted to try something different. There are also 2 Yellow coupes. There was only one Red coupe and it is full fendered. So you see, red ruled out And Yes Rock, we have met some fine guys and gals here. Hopefully you will meet Randy at the HAMBdrags but methinks he will sell this car and start another rod, you see, he wishes it were something other than red...................
I owe Randy a great deal. He let me use part of his shop all winter for my touring. I learned a lot from him. When he started building this chassis, I scrapped all the previous work I did on my touring! We gave each other a hand and most importantly moral support all winter to get these cars done!!! At one time, I was within a couple weeks of him but had some roadblocks come up (finishing my folks new basement and a trip to Cancun ). As we sit today, I am 2 months behind him. Wish me luck.
I like the red. I think there's been a backlash long enough to where red's going to come back. I also think the reason you've met so many of us, Rocky, is that we all have about the same taste. Sam.
I hope yer not saying we all taste like chicken!? Sam, I also hope you can meet Randy. You both have a high level of craftsmanship and would get along just fine. Plus, you would drool profusely when you crawled around this car!
Flipper, I dont have pics of his frame that I can find. He used the rear kickup off a 29 Chevy frame. and the rails were formed out of 2x5" I do have a pic of my frame which is the same through the body area as his. Lots of piecuts to get the contour. Neither of us cut the reveal in like a stock 32 frame. We both used 5" tubing to keep the proportions nice with my T and his A.Here is a pic of mine

The first cuts are to get the lower edge profile right. Then you pie cut the inside to get the profile to match the body. After that, you cut the outside at the cowl to bring the rails back out. Then we pie cut them from top to bottom at the cowl to get the "droop" for the front.
Bitch'n hot rod. Super stance and proportions. There is a reason red has been overdone in cycles..... it looks great. And I would think it could keep up with traffic.......
