the past 2 years I had a cousin get married in 2006 and a good freind who got married the next year, and they both decided that the day they would get married on was the day of billetproof, lets just say I was "sick" for both weddings and made it to the car show!

Last Fall my wife informed me that our niece was getting her baby baptised on opening week end of deer hunting and asked my wife to be the godmother. I thought often about the baptism as I sat in my deer stand with my loaded 30 06!!

Couple years ago, I found out my Aunt & Uncle (really cool people) were coming through town the day of the Roundup. I didn't want to miss the Roundup, and I didn't want to miss seeing some family -- I just did the Friday Festivities in Austin (shop crawl, South Congress, etc.), and drove back home early Sat. morning to be home in time for them to show up @ my house. Worked out great. Got to have my cake & eat it too.

Eleven years ago I planned my wedding in my home town of Angola In. My wonderful bride didn't realize that I had it all set up for the weekend of the Kruse Auction in Auburn. Don't think she's ever really forgiven me for that one since I was late getting to the Church on Saturday...

I missed Back to the 50s a couple years ago also. First time in 14 years. My first cousin got married. Didn't help that I couldn't stand the bride!!!

seems like it was always a death or a wedding stopping me from going to a car show last year, i dont think anyone in my family is getting married this year, and hopefully no deaths, we'll see, unfortunately nobody thinks my grandma is gonna make it this year :/....

Yep, I'm missing "Paso" this year because of a wedding. You can do both! Come to Austin on Thursday....hang till 2pm on Saturday and you're in corpus by 5:30!

  16. If you're not in the wedding... you are not obligated to attend.

    Sam.

  17. I had to miss Paso Robles last year to go to my son's graduation ceremony. And that was the last year of Paso Robles I guess.

  18. THAT I could see. Even though I chose not to attend my own graduation. I would have rather gone to a car show.:D

A friend of mine a few months ago stopped by Pistons and Paint for about an hour before he had to be a paul bearer in a funeral. He left the family waiting in the car!

    Priorities man!! PRIORITIES!!!

The Thursday - Saturday morning idea sounded great! You know it's going to be a full house on Friday on registration day.

Ask them to move the wedding back a week. If they really love each other a extra week won't hurt. :D

Wusses!!! The whole lot of ya!!:D

Couple of years ago my wife's only niece in the world decided a couple of months before Roundup to get married the Saturday of Roundup. We sent a nice expensive gift, told her we loved her, but this is Roundup, sorry we won't be at the wedding. In all fairness to us she was supposed to get married a couple of times before and called it off at the last minute.

Our families know that you don't schedule anything the weekend of Roundup, HAMB Drags or Kontinental's Day of the drags, if they do we won't be there. Kinda helps that the last few years one of my 2 daughters and my son are also at Roundup.

I decided a few years ago that I have enough married friends. If a friend doesn't understand that car events outrank weddings. They're not worthy of my friendship.

One thing that always pisses me off is why do they have to have those things in the middle of the day on a summer Saturday. Why not winter or on a Tuesday night when there is nothing good on TV?
