Playing around drawing scribbles of my next project. And got to thinking (hey it could happen) Besides the K&L odd rod,did anyone race a pick up truck at Bonneville or the lakes? Back in the day. If you were to build one now, would the cab make it a special class compared to a coupe let's say?? Any y'all who are good with a pen, maybe post a sketch of Pierson Bros coupe as a 32 pick up ?? !! Just wanted to talk about ol' hot rods.. The pick up picture post has same great stuff..
Look at the TJJ post from the other day with the '51 Bonneville pics. I'm intrigued by George Cromer's pick-up. Looks like it might be a T on '32 rails. Anybody know anything else about this truck?
Back when I had 2 F1's I used to look at the cabs and wonder about making a nose with 2 hoods, with one being upside down. If it was angle chopped and dropped down by whatever means I figured it would have lines somewhat like that coupe in your picture. Just hang a tank out behind the cab to help fill in the flat spot behind it. It would need to be set back on the frame and shortened up a bit too. My 2cents worth!
damn scanning pictures is a pain... doodle of what I have spinning in my head.. but maybe more Bonneville'ish..
Pick-ups aren't allowed in comp coupe class, Best to get the rule book, and see whats allowed before you start
I don't ever plan on building a race car (or truck) Just wondering if any ran and what class back in the 40'-50's and what one might look like built as one. George Cromer...where are those pictures?? PS Vendetta...what do you mean??
Shit I just figured out the pointy end of the pencil works better then the soft end when drawing. Someone feel like doing a quick sketch of a 32-34 pick up as Bonneville racer? Or photo shop a race car nose onto the chopped and channeled pu ?? I can see a super low version, moon disc'd,pointy nose, aluminum cover over grill, aluminim bed cover, could be cool...
What I mean is...everytime I open a thread about a salt car (or truck)...it reminds me how much work I have to do to get the current shop projects done, so I can work on the next... a 33/34 roadster built for the salt. Customer has 32 3w in shop now...fantastic car, but we both bullshit about the next for him, which is a 33/34 roadster for bonneville. It will be done...lofty ambitions, but very achievable.
