Iron Eyes Cody Is the actor And he lived most of his adult life as a Native American Including being married To a Native American wife and Adopting 2 Native American Children.Strange to us today but many years ago many whites truely went Native and were accepted as such by Native Nations.Today if we find a white claiming Native blood it's usually part of an attempt to claim funds ***ociated with something like a casino .On the other hand it is Ironic that someone can claim descent from many nationalities without question but if they claim Native American blood they are riddiculed for it .

This makes me think of what will are young people say about the "S**** IRON "from the world trade centers ?Well a lot of it went into a new war ship "The City of New York "Big tuff foundry workers were crying while melting down the twisted metal of the twin towers. The level of workmanship by everyone involved with the handling of the recycling of the metal and building of this ship gave it their all The president of the ship yard said he never saw any project handled with the reverence that was applied to this ship through every step of the build

Nothing about it is heartbreaking . If the whole thing burst into flames it wouldn't be worth the scorch it left on the side walk.......

I'm with Tman. Necessary at the time, but some of the stuff that got s****ped was a shame. I've heard of towns donating their Civil War canon from the courthouse to the s**** drives. Lots and Lots of 10 year old cars that of course today we would all go nutty to have. People were taking the bumpers off of their 2 year old cars to help the war effort. It worked. We won.

What breaks MY heart is seeing all the war surplus s****ped. 18,000 B-24s were made and only 25 or so exist today. There are only FOUR P-61s in the world. Zero B-32 or Devastators. There are also only FOUR early P-40B models and 7 C models.

Wow this post has gone a lot further than I thought it would.
I look at some of the pictures I took at junk yards back in the 80s and think, Damn I should have grabbed that one! and that one!

I think they said there are 3,000 pictures. And more to come!

That's LPD-21 (USS New York) being built at Northrop Grumman Shipyard in Pascagoula, MS.

I don't know where you got your information about the "level of workmanship" but it's far short of what you're claiming. The steel at the foundry when it was being poured may have been treated with reverence but the ship is just one more piece of steel that brings a paycheck to the workers and a profit to the shipyard.

    How do I know?

Because I retired from working at the shipyard on a Government contract with the Navy for the past 17 years. Hurricane Katrina almost destroyed the shipbuilding industry down here...the workers are still recovering from it and are still more concerned with their problems than building ships. The workmanship on EVERY contract, on every ship cl*** ****S. Rework is rampant...costs are skyrocketing and the Navy is getting less and less for their money. It ****s...

I couldn't take it anymore...thankfully I had 30 years in the Navy under my belt before I started there to tide me over...so I quit.

I got the information I'm giving and the story from a welding magazine that my shop gets monthly I don't have the book in front of me But what I said about the workers Is a rough quote from the president of the foundry that did the melting down and casting of the ships parts and the president of the ship yard which built it .According to the article all the people working on this ship knew they were also working with materials from the Twin Towers. They are the ones saying this ships build was treated with a reverence not seen before that the workmanship was for the most part "Above reproach "Since we are talking about a ship built built literally with the blood of several thousand innocent U.S. civilians I would like to think that it was treated exactly as the people interviewed said it was!I am a former United Aircraft weldor from the Vietnam era that worked under navy contract and I can believe that these guys gave their very best for this particular ship .And while it was never said in the article I would hope and be willing to bet that the first shell fired from this ship in combat will also be part of the Twin Tower s**** !

  14. So instead of making a difference you QUIT? Sounds like bitterness more than anything.

  15. I can see, some B-17s, B-25s, B-24s, looks like some distant A-26s as well.
Dont forget the P-40F, only two known to survive. I was working on one (Judy Pays) When I was living in Melb.
    Doc.
