The only thing that bugs me about this car is the side view mirrors. They don't go with the car at all in my opinion.

Of all the cars from the 50's, a plain Jane '57 Ford is my favorite. When I take a break from my Model A's, I hit the road in my Y-block Ranch Wagon.

"I'd take that Black one anyday over a 57 Chev"

Exactly what I said in 1962 when I bought my first car. Of course, back then, clean '57 Chevies were in the $1200.00 range, and Fords were half that- no accounting for taste :).

And, DeuceRoadster- if you like '57 Fords and have moonshining in your heritage, hopefully you have seen Thunder Road, the old Robert Mitchum movie. I thought the real star was the '57 he got at the end for his ultimate runner.

I was 8 years old when the movie was made. I lived in Greenvile SC ... and my Dad traveled on business to Asheville NC a good bit. He came home one day talking about a movie that was being filmed in Asheville and took me back the next day with him. I guess movie security was not as tight as it is now ... because I watched them film the scene where the Feds trap him at the bridge underp*** in the 49 - 50 Ford. :D I have seen the movie many times but thanks for the heads up anyway .

New Years resolution #1 Make time to finish this car.

A simple blown head gasket job turned into a major engine overhaul. Oh well, all done now.

These boys showed up at the F-100 Super Nationals in Knoxville this past summer. Stole the show to my mind.

It was a Seattle street racer built back in the early '70s. Dual quad, side oiler 427, top loader 4-speed, chrome 9". I owned it from '93 to about '99. It was stupid fast, but I was broke, so when IT broke it stayed that way.

It had all the cool '57 Ford tricks...'58 hood with the emblem taken out for a scoop, black T-Bird buckets and back seat, chrome A arms, rear end and traction bars with deep dish Crager S/S wheels. Black. The rear quarters were port-a-powered out to clear the tires. It finally sold to a Ford restoration shop, who were going to sleeve the 427 and put it in a high dollar resto, then part the body out.

I heard it's back on the street somewhere up there all rebuilt (the same) and running good though...

Choptop, why do you have to live so damn far away from me? That wagon is sick!

Sean, as always, love your car. Question though: the headlights are th eonly thing that I wonder about... is it just to match the tailights?

No Love for the Ranchero? Here's some pics of mine. '56 Ford Truck headlight rings, dummy spots, shaved antenna and handles. 292 y-block w/ ford-o trans. I need to get new ones. It now has ****** center caps & a spray in bedliner. Soon to be shiny and with a watson style panel job.

Chopshop - I like the chevy grille, don't see that done too often.

Sean- what are your taillights from?

Unfortunately I sold my Ranch wagon and fortunately I sold my Ranchero. I'll have to settle for a 56 Customline to ease the pain. I sure hope I can match the stance of that first black 57. It just looks like it will kick your ***!:D
