    Hey Guys,

Thought you might like to see some of my Dad's snapshots from Bakersfield and El Mirage in 1948.
I'll post some more as I scan them.
I think the T's are at Stan Dow's shop on Chester Ave.
"South Chester Automotive", Dad wrenched for Stan after he got back from the South Pacific.
I am not sure what races the T's were being set up for, I know Stan raced a 60 powered midget for years and I think Jalopy's

I am hoping someone might have some other shots taken from El Mirage at this time.
There are 2 shots of Stu Hilborns car and I remember Dad saying he was there when Hilborn set the record...he has a rather fuzzy shot of Hilborn ripping down the lake.

I am not sure but I think it was July of 48.

What kind of wheels are these?

  9. The wheels are 17" Ford wires with accessory wheel covers.

God, I love these shots. Thanks for sharing them with us!

I've always liked the Calori roadster - especially those pipes! I think a HAMB member is restoring it, as we speak.....

First thing I noticed... Don't think I've ever seen in it in that configuration...

wonder if anybody has some good close ups of the calori roadster not the ones in books but in private collections i have all the ones in the books and some i got from jack from his collection. to him the car was no big deal but i bet other people that saw the car felt different. it was one of the most amazing cars out there. thats why i feel in love with it i just saw a little picture of it my friend and old boss jonh carambia has of it. the trird owners of the car the sutherland brothers. oneof the brothers used to work with jonhs dad at mcdonald dougl*** and gave hime the pic since he knew he was an old hot rodder. theres got to be other shots of it out there. billy
