I was looking at members 54 lincoln forsale & wondered if anyone have any pictures of hidden potential for that car? It has good lines as it is, mabe as little as lowering it and simple wheels. What would be a neat motor/trans setup for it (has a nailhead available for add $) ....pretty sure about the answer but but would a 460 or a 302 be cool?
That car is a no brainer at that money. I couldn't find reasonable shipping right away or I'd own it. I'd but it with that nailhead and put that thing on the road. It is a great looking car. It needs a good stance and nothing else. I probably wouldn't even paint that thing right away. Get it driving, put an interior in it and you are golden.
I have not seen the one for sale. But I have a 55 I am fastracking to get on the road. I am putting a 351C in it, it doesnt fit as easy as one would think, Steering box to exh mani, you need to get a f100 4wd mani and chop a section out of it for clearance. So if its got a mill in it and it fits, I would stick with that. But your right on the money with as simple as lowering it and even the standard caps are nice. All I have done is taken of the trinket stuff, exsesive stainless trim, I like my cars simple, extended the spats by a 1.5", just simple stuff like that, and it goods sleek now. I'll do a post when it looks like a car again. I dont know what your skills are or want to have, but a word of warning, check behind all the lower stainless dress up stuff, 'cancer hides there', and pull one off if you can, I got a shock when I took it off. There are a few people on here with them, but not many. Good luck they are a ***y car, and not common at all. Shoot me a PM if you want to know anything, happy to help.
Now your talking!! I'm gettiin' real close to gettin' my '54 Lincoln Capri 4dr. done. I put in an injected sbf and steering gear box clearance is a bit of an issue. The other problem I found is if there are any rust issues replacement parts are just about as common as hens teeth. Fat man does offer dropped spindles/ disc brake conversion. I'll try to pm you some pics later today.
Sorry, but I would leave the engine/trans combo stock! The ****** is as good as any auto, and the engine only needs a better carb setup.
There is a guy on here who seems to have a few lincoln's, I think his handle is 'satanherself' or something to that effect. You can try him, although be warned, I asked about some brake lens's and got a blunt 'NO' for the answer, thats it. So dont take it to heart if you get a grunt or snort.
I agree, but it was not an option, as it would have cost me more to buy bearings, rings and not to mention broken pulleys and **** like that and get it down here, rather than buy a whole running donor car for $800. It was the easy option. Plus I plan on putting the Linc motor into the next rod I build.
You plan on using the transmission (with flywheel and starter) for your next rod? If not want to sell them?
I have 2 of these sitting outside my shop, building the 2 door for a customer. The 4 door will be a parts car. I don't think we will use either of the 2 engine/trans in them. Only one complete nose, so I need that. PM me if you need something.
