  1. OK My old Custom 54 Ford has laquer primer with a matte clear over it. Can I shoot a water based primer over the scuffed laquer on it now and then top coat with DP and then a 2k primer. Then hit it with moden urethane product. Please say yes! I dont want to disturb all the old body work with sanding ha-ha

Ok so since the body will be black should I lay down red metalick base than lace then black then candy red over it? I thought black kinda ate any other color of paint?

If you want a vintage look, this style of lace has been the most common, from the '70s, until today. You can buy it year round, in any store.

Wow looks like all the experts were on here answering questions before they were even asked, while I was out working, looks like theres no use for anyone else on here to answer questions. Right on.

I have a question, how did you get so knowledgable? LOL.

Hey, I am planning a build for my 54 chevy half ton pickup. the original paint was a 2-tone mariner blue with a shell white roof. I want to do that over again but I would like to add shell white "scallops" or "straight" flames to the nose.

When I restored by 1949 harley panhead I used single stage centari black enamel. I like the sheen that the single stage gives off. Its not really shiney and its not really flat. It looks "period".

What would you recomend for my truck that would give that same appearance that my panhead does.

    thanks, Dan

Here is a question from a newbie. I traded electric work for paint and body work about two years ago. It is a ppg bc/cc stock chrysler color.

Last sommer I was buffing some very light scratches out using a Porter cable orbital buffer and Meguiars Solo one liquid system recommended to me by a local detail shop. He said it was pretty much idiot proof and hard to do any damage with.

Well I found that to be pretty much true, but after I put a sealer on it I noticed a small white mark on the lower passenger rear cab panel . I thought it was dryed polished but as I went after it it grew in size, maybe a fifty cent piece. Now I think maybe he missed with the clearcoat in that area.

He was a great guy but he died last year and I am wondering how much work for a painter to fix?

Sorry for being so long winded.
