I just finished fitting up some 49 plymouth bumpers to my 50 chevy truck, I widened them 3" and sunk them in tighter to the truck. Now I need to figure out what to do for taillights. I want to french some in the rear fenders and want a oval shape, I was thinking maybe 50 buick but would love to hear some ideas. It ****s the rear fenders are 3" wider fibergl*** ones, I much prefer working with metal.
Front looks great but the rear looks like it doesn,t belong there. Too much open space and contrast between the bumper and the bottom of the box.Tucking it up and in would make it contrast the bottoms of the rear fenders....perhaps a louvered filler panel? Other than that I like it!
Hey Ratmotor, I thought about raising it up but It is actually about even with the bottom of the rear fenders, it also makes the rear the truck look to high off the ground and there is also the problem of the license plate being visible. I don't want to put the tag on the bumper. I was trying to come up with a nice tag mound idea. A louvered panel is a good idea maybe with a recess for the tag, Maybe I could do a cardboard mock up and see how it looks. Unless some handy dandy photoshopers are bored.
Well if your gonna fab a filler panel, why not incorporate the tail lamps in the panel, they you won't need to make holes in the fenders. How about some 58 chevy twin lens sets or some 53/54 chevy car units on their sides.
hey plym 46, I agree would be easier to put lights on the filler panel. I just don't want it to have that roll pan look. Although some 58 biscayne taillamps recessed in the filler panel could look well thought out and not just like some cheap lights screwed to a roll pan. I will definately have to mock something up and see how it would look. Thanks for the input
