I did a search and couldnt find what I had hoped to. Does anyone have any photos of big Nailheads (401 and 425) that they swaped into mids 50's GM, Mainly Buick or Olds. Just want to see what yall have done. Thanksya.
Pretty much exactly what I was looking for... hey tagman, on the back of the block, on the passanger side, directly below the valve cover on the flange above the flywheel, there is a little threaded hole that connects to that thin copperline that runs across the firewall and into the cab. what the hell is that? Pardon my ignorance.
I would like to drop my 364 into my 52 Chevy when its ready. I hope that someone comes along that has done it or that has one.
I know guy who had 401 dropped in '58 Buick conv, if I remember right, biggest problems were exhaust manifold and parts related to steering, they'll come across. But it is possible, even with same engine mounts...
I don't know if this will help you, but way back I dropped a 54 nailhead into a 47 Chev with no real problem. I swapped the motor, tranny ( DynaSlug), and rear end. I eventually found a 3 speed for the car. I used the stock rad, and stock exhaust manifolds. It was tight, but it worked. I have pictures of the car, but wasn't thinking enough to take any pictures of the motor. This was back in 1960. Bob
