don't get crap done was going to work on brakes try to make Lonestar Round Up Time waits for no one.

 

Got the post installed (yep went post on the 2 door conv) and got the door frame chop done and fitted. One side down, soon to move to the other.

Was nice 56 here and sunny! Rain is coming... and cold.

 

I got the garage rearranged, shoved the roadster up against the far wall away from the tool box to make some room to tear down the redhead's sportster for paint and chrome. I will start on that tomorrow night.

 

saturday i spent the day working on my brothers bro in laws '65 ranchero, finished up converting his ranchero to a duel master cylinder, i discovered the guy who owned it prior did not tighten the rear u-bolts down and i was actually able to remove the lowering blocks with no tools!! i then put on a brand new set of rear shocks for him, tried to find him a set of front shocks but no one has them in stock we fired his ranchero up and went for a cruise, drives nice now!!
Sunday, i needed to work on my '63 ranchero, i replaced my front shocks, tightened my headers, they keep coming loose, i may have finally solved the problem, I HOPE! i then dropped the driveshaft and replaced my rear u-joint and managed to CRACK my grandfathers old bench vise stupid u-joint was not wanting to get removed!!! i'm going to miss that old vise!!! so i still need to replace the front u-joint, next weekend i hope, and may need to do my rear brakes. when i was done, i went for a cruise and kicked the crap out of my ranchero for a few hours

 

Great weather in Phoenix today,worked on rewiring the '54 Ford hooking up the relays for the fan,fuel pump to new fuse box and ignition switch.Having a hard time reading diagram where does the terminal on the switch marked (AM) go to? Thanks!

Got home from the hospital after my heart attack last sunday. So I'll just take it easy for some times now

 

Got the old girl out of the shed and after giving her a lick and a polish, tightened up the exhaust and added a new fabricated hanger bracket, Pulled out and disassembled all the gauges and am in the process of painting the gauge faces body colour.
Ill post some pics when they are finished.

I drove 1200 miles in the snow to get a 30 ft trailor for my brother. Oh but I did get to see the ramp where evel kinevel jumped the snake river canyon.

 

No home runs this weekend. Just a dribbler down the line for a base hit. We went to the Allentown flea market and found a few very minor deals. An NORS voltage regulator for 5 bucks. 3 cans of spray paint for a buck each. I probably saved 50 bucks over the parts store bend me over prices. Whoopie you say. Well the next time I want those valve covers but think there are about 50 bucks over priced, I can say shit yeah I'll take them, I'm even.

Every little step adds up during the journey. There will be better weekends but it's hard to beat a flea market with a good friend. If you save 50 bucks...what's not to like?

Oh yeah Did I tell you that Maryland beat the no. 1 team in the country? Some team from down south somewhere. Not a bad weekend at all.

 

Damn dude - hate hearing THAT. But good news is, your back. Time for some changes, huh?

 

Stripped out the interior of the coupe, trim, floor coverings (YUCK), headliner (love that mouse turd rain), and got it ready for the sanding this week. Also, built a mobile grinder/vise table, made a slapper. I installed rubber padding under the compressor feet and anchored it to the floor. I hauled the 53 hood to the shop ready for the motor install. 53 makes the trip from house garage to shop for the motor install today. I felt pretty good about the progress after not much over the holidays and two weeks of pneumonia.

 

It was even cold in South Texas (42 Degrees). We braved the cold and got both rear brakes rebuilt and the Master cylinder rebuilt and installed. Also started some body work and replaced one rear floor pan.

 

Mrs. HRP and I drove the pickup to the V8 club chili fest yesterday,,,never got above freezing,,,,ate some good food and visited with some nice folks and saw some very nicly restored early Ford V8's.

A bonus was when a guy ask me if I knew any history on my truck,,,,

I told him who I had bought it from and that was about all I knew other than they bought the truck and the engine was pulled and used in their hopped up 29 roadster.

Upon hearing this he ask if that was the lady who's husband Mr. Pittman had died and left her with a large collection of running model A's,,,my reply ,,yes sir!

That's when the green light went on in his head and he told me they had bought it from the guy that he had sold it to back in 1974,,,in fact when I bought it in 2002 it still had his name Mr. Merrel on the title.

This old gent (Mr. Lathem) purchased it as a running original truck in 1958 and kept it in his basement for the next 16 years until he sold it.

He seemed pleased to see the old truck on the road,,,even if it did have a sbc under the hood.

He gave me his card and ask me to call or stop by his house he had a few pitcures and a couple of parts he wanted me to have.

BTW,, Mr. Lathem told me he paid $150.00 for the truck in 1958.

So yeah you could say I had a great weekend,,,dispite the bitterly cold weather,,,get anything done?,,,boned up on my history,,,HRP

Friday I got a screaming deal on a Cornwell top and bottom tool box...full of tools! Saturday we chopped the entire left side of my 61 coupe deville off with some nice fellas that drove down from Wichita (and brought the cold with them) on Saturday. Sunday I drove to Dallas to pick up a 62 sedan deville and parked it in my new shop space with some of my fellow Strugglers. Long but fun weekend...

 

Drank beer, chased girls and worked on my "all original" 32 ford... Not much else to do when its below zero!

 

started working on my latest project and ended up in the hospital with Co2 poisioning. Not enough ventilation in the garage for the heater and the gas fumes...

 

Richard D. and I built this. Then got shitfaced and watched some football yesterday.

 

i helped strip down a parts truck, then got it junked, and i stripped the 350 that came out of it, i was supposed to be out there stripping my 283, but i'm too damn tired now

 

Put the finishing touches on the grill for my 55. $50.00 in parts, more time than I'd care to admit = 6 pound grill that helps seal up the engine compartment. PRICELESS!

 

That sucks man, are you doing OK now? You gotta watch that stuff.

 

My wife got me a pinball machine called Trident, it was made by Stern manufacturing in Chicago.

 

Put 12 more hours in my 49 merc. dash.

 

honey do's all weekend started cleaning out the garage to start building my motor

 

I built pine wood derby cars all day on Sat.

Sunday, I Flipped my Frame over and welded the bottom side and located the 4 bar bracket on the rear end. Boxing plates are next.

 

my wife and i worked together to get all the old paint stripped off her '40 Ford pickup. i'm painting it a suede Lockhaven Green color. also got everything i need to dial in front stance in the mail (thanks, Gambino Kustoms drop axle, reverse eyelet springs, split wishbone kit. In the rear im going to raise the rear center spring mount.

will likely post a thread with details as i continue on...

Also late last week, bead blasted all the Lincoln trans housings, pan, etc and encapsulated them in POR 15. Dropped everything off, including the last parts i needed to find to my trans guy: low sprag, bands, bushings. should be ready for install later this week. by the way-- parts for a early 60's Lincoln heavy duty version of the cruise-a-matic are damn expensive and tough to find...
