12V Conversion

    For those of you that have done the conversion to 12V, what are all the items I need to address? I purchased a 50 ford with a flathead that has had some of the conversion completed - so I need to go through everything. I'm ***uming the generator has been upgraded, but do not know. The car runs so I don't know if that means anything - haven't dealt with this upgrade before. Thanks

    There are lots of posts here and in many other websites regarding a 12 volt conversion. Do a search. No real need to go over all the steps again here. Now if you have a specific question regarding a component then we will love you help you. Search also in the Fordbarn sites for conversions.

    Well specifically - the car runs. Does that mean the generator had to have been upgraded for it to run properly on a 12 volt battery? Obviously lights, etc. need to be addressed - just trying to figure out exactly how I can make sure it is all converted and converted correctly.

    Yes,
    If the car is running and you definitely have a 12 volt battery in it then your ignition has already been updated. Check to see if you are running positive ground or a negative ground.
    Once you find the posts on conversions the steps and changes will be evident but you may have a question regarding the changes.
