I seem to be having trouble with getting the windows to rope in on my steel coupe. The rubber keeps tearing as it goes over the lip, especially in the corners. Now I sanded and smoothed the lip before paint, have used soap and Worth rubber care. But still tearing. Could it be the rubber?

Sounds like the seal is old.. Wax and grease the cord well, it should not cut..OLDBEET

yes sounds like it's dryed out , i've never lubed the rope . i use a 50/50 mix of dish soap and water. sometimes they go right in , but than outher's will fight you all the way. just go slow

  4. don't use any cord smaller than 3/16. I preferr nylon. the more used the better
probably the best tip is always pull the rope towards the center of the glass
if you pull from the direction your going the angle of the rope/rubber acts like scissors and will cut the rubber every time

Thanks guys, We used about a 1/4 nylon cord, and one slightly smaller and dish soap. My rubber is from Au ve co. I'm not sure maybe it is poor quality stuff?
