10 months ago i bought a 54 bel air from cal.***le was all good in cal.checked to make sure it was clear before i bought it.When i took it back to vegas i did not know their is a vin check for out of state cars before you regester it.(yes i am stupid)Well the vin did not match the ***le.This is because cal. use to take numbers off of the motor back in the 50s.Well the motor been replaced 3 times Any how i fought the nv and the cal.dmv for 10 months with no head way.I saw that some hambers had talked about i.t.s so i went on the web site and it sounded so sketchy but i said f it.130 bucks 12 days i got my paper work.I took it to the nv dmv 20 min. later i had a plate and sticker.Ten days later (today)I am holding a new ***le in my hand.I am so stoked. My car is legal now.
When I bought the 48 the PO had taken the time to go to the Texas dmv and have it noted that the truck had had a motor change. It sure made things easier when I moved back to WA.
no again call me stupid.I did all the cal info but never checked with my own two eyes live and learn.ethier way that service will help a lot of guys out.
it is very common for the ***le and vin tag to not match up on old cars in cali. old cars each had there own standards and things would get screwed up. I have talked to highway patrol officers that sort out these issues and they say it is common. dmv would sometimes grab the wrong number. block id/body id/any other string of numbers that might be on the car and use that at some point. quickest way to sort it out if you notice that the ***le and vin do not match is to store the ***le away and go into the dmv with the car and say you lost the ***le. there is paper work to fill out but they will just go off the vin tag and get you a new ***le. also, to the original poster congrats on getting your california dmv mess sorted out! on my truck all that is holding me up is i have to get it weighed. then mail all of the paperwork off then i will have a new ***le.
Out of Las Vegas. I had to do the same thing and they were very fast!!! Walked into the DMV and within about 3 minutes I had a temp plate and about 2 weeks later I had the plate for the car and another week ,had the ***le. Great service. Looks like the price has gone up!!! http://www.its-***les.com/15price.htm I know a guy that brought his 26 Buick to the Vehicle state inspections and they issued him a new vin# even though the vin on the frame was different. Its an ugly ***ed aluminum plate that he took off as it looks so ****py. If he went through ITS, the ***le would have matched the frame!! Doesnt make sense not to use these people. Then it makes the frame legit to the ***le.
Now will this service work for the cars without ***les in california? Will the DMV accept their paperwork?
I have a 1929 Pointiac coupe.I bought from a guy here in Lodi.He gave me the actual pink slip from 1958.Will the DMV still accept this as the ***le?Or is there a different road I need to take??Back in those days the Pink Slip was the ***le.I havent even seen one of these in over 20 years.Has anyone tried using the old style pink slips. The serial on the pink matches the serial on the frame. I would like to get this part done before spending any money on the build.
