I just save the life on a 37 Chrysler Business Coupe. I have the car running after sitting for 25 years and most everything is operational. The car currently has a positive ground 6 volt system in it and I was wondering if anyone knew the answer to this question. On a positive ground car, should the Amp meter show that the car is charging when the needle indicator is on the negative side of the meter or on the positive side.

You may need to polarize the generator

How do you polarize a generator? I just had mine rebuilt?

  6. Double check the ammeter by turning on the headlights with the engine off.
It should show a discharge then.
If it shows on the charge side, the ammeter is wired backwards.

And show a charge when the engine is running.

There are some negative ground 6V cars out there, do a little research to see which way the ChryCo cars are set up.
