Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by negativeMatt, Jan 24, 2008.

  1. well guys, the time has come. i'm finally at a place in my life where i can serve my country. it's something i should've done when i got out of high school, but i was to hard headed and stupid. after two awesome boys, an understanding wife, and getting my ducks in a row,,,, i joined the national guard, and will leave for basic feb.19th.

with that said, SATURDAY FEB 9TH, we're having a little shipping out party. it's a byob kinda thing. we'll have some food drinks, games, and general fun.., but just really looking to get together with friends and have an excuse to party. plenty of hot rod parking!!

if you're interested in coming out, just pm me for directions and times........

oh yeah, it's a military costume party, so bust out yer g.i. joe underoos and come on out!!!

I`ve been serving for 13 years and still have a fun everyday. Remember it`s only as hard as you make, be prepared for anything, and keep the family informed.
    Good Luck and God Bless

Dude, I've been serving in the Guard for 8 years now with 1 tour in Iraq, its the best thing you'll ever do for yourself. The opportunities are great! I don't know many other college students who come from nothing that have a shop with a hot rod, but you can too. Get 2 people to sign up and you'll be an E-3 before you go. Sweet talk your recruiter and he'll enlist the next 2 of his recruits under you. Enjoy BCT, it's great. I wish I could go back!!! Congrats.

Thanks for serving. Some of my best times were in basic. Keep your head on a swivel and no matter how stupid some of the stuff your DI tells you sounds, DO IT EXACTLY THE WAY THEY TELL YOU. The words to remember are "ATTENTION TO DETAIL". The guys who have a hard time, are the ones who don't get those simple words.

Have fun and kick azz! We're all proud of you, man.

it's been 37 years since i was in basic, but a couple of times a year i still dream that i'm back there, but at today's age. i'm huffin' and puffin' to keep up with you youngsters, but it fills me with some weird kind of macho deal thinking that "i kept up with the kids". then i wake up.

    best luck and THANX.
