I built custom bomber seats out of 14 gauge steel . I cut down mustang seat tracks and put them under so I would have adjustment. I had my local upholstery guy make seat backs and pads. Works really nice for me, keeps my *** and back from getting sore on short and long trips.
    My 2 cents

Na. Some people are young and invincible and some are blessed with long-wear, low maint. bodies. ;)

sounds like i'd consider a little dechanneling you'd still have the chopped look and a few more inches would be nice.

Early and mid 90's Toyota truck seats work pretty good. They are low and comfortable and they are also very plentiful in junk yards. You can get buckets or benches as well. Good luck.

Back in the early 70's one of my buddies in Waco had the area below his seats sunken a few inches to set the seat springs and base lower.
I'm not sure if it was Perry L***iter with his chopped and channeled full fendered deuce cabrolet or George Jezeks (sp?) chopped, and channeled A sedan that also was full fendered. It gave a lot more comfort under the **** than the normal thin foam pad Your legs do end up being almost straight out in front of you with your knees slightly raised..

You might also look at the plane jane Mopar mini van seats. (not the captains chairs they unbolt from the stand and aren't that thick or big.
    The drivers side also adjusts.

Another seat option: My old Toyota vans had really thin seats because you sat on top on the engine compartment (a van c.o.e.) and they were very comfortable. Still have the seats and was considering using them in my A pickup.

  12. Glad you got it sussed.

I have said this before, overly Chopped and channelled A Sedans will be our Eras Pro Street..........in a few short years guys will be buying them cheap and unchannelling them closer to highboy status just the same as cars being un-tubbed.

You can look to Corvette and Camaro and Firebird seats for inspiration. Ever sit in a Corvette? You climb DOWN into it and as you drive it, your **** it bascially scooting a just a few inches off the pavment. Might help you. And you can always get them re-upholstered to remove the headrest and make them look less NEW and Racey (which would be out of place in a chopped and channeld rod in my opnion).
