I have....its about the people, just as much as it is about the cars. The people you meet because of these old car things...thats what its all about. Today was prime example. Meet 4 new friends today, great folks, two of which are hamber's, 40vert and his father 40standard when they came to pick up Joes roadster. I have some great friends on here as well, some of which I have never seen in person. I guess thank Ryan for this little creation as well.
I dont care for a lot of the people, so I'll beg to differ on what its about. Sure its nice to meet like minded car types but in the end I'd rather be working on my ride and getting it going.
Well ,this is an interesting subject. Kinda makes you think a little bit.The cars I think are the main thing that we can all agree on. The people are something some of us can agree to. Some people are a$$ holes. I think the majority (vast majority) of people in the HAMB are really good people and have a sincere desire to help other people. The interest we have in the cars is what makes it stick together. Just my $.02 ( the above opinion and $1.00 will get me a cup of coffee tomorrow am) Thanks, BOBBY FORD
I totally agree, it's easy to be a grumpy old fart, but that's not what it's all about, it's about sharing thoughts and ******** with people that share your love and p***ion for cars. I can't wait to go to a show to see all the cars, go to swap meets, check all the venders out, but my favorite thing is to see old friends and meet new ones. Anyway thats just me.
We all have people AND cars we dont like on here and locally...but thats not what I am talking about.
I agree. I went to the Houston HAMB meet up last month and when I left, I knew I had made good friends. Sure, it's the cars that get us together, but I think it's the good people that keeps us thriving and growing. Being the lone wolf is.... lonely.
it was my pleasure meeting Mike at his shop today. He's a talented young man with a great shop and super fine skills. If you're in the Baroda, Mich area and need some fab work done, look him up, you will not be disappointed
Sure,it's all about the people! People with a love for cars. I always talk **** about "dog people" and my wife gets all mad. She's a dog person! My dog this. My dog that. Alright already!!! Then I realized i'm the same way,but about cars! Merc this,hotrod that,LOL! It was pretty funny. This is the only place where other people "get it". Don't know what I would've done if I never found the HAMB. Looking forward to meeting some more HAMBers,at the GNRS tomorrow.
I have had a lot of Hot Rods in my life,too many to count. Each one at the time i owned it ,was dear to me. But when i think back,it was the people i have met through the years that impacted me the most. The times i spent with a fellow Hot Rodder late at night wrenching. The fun times on a "cruise" with a bunch of Hot Rod buddys. The experience of meeting someone off of this site ,that just yesterday was "some pixels " on the screen. Sure theres some A- holes out there, but thats true in all walks of life. I find the majority of folks ive met through the years to be helpfull,honest,and like minded. Without the interaction with another human being we are just an "Island" unto ourselves !
Badbob is the exception to my rule........... {actually Bob was a pleasure to meet, and has turned into a good friend}
This is something I have been trying to say for quite awhile. I have a 51 Ford, not even ready yet, and I have a strong background in motorcycles. But I enjoy reading the HAMB more than anything else in the world. I wish I could get to you people at some point and meet you. I am held down to short vacations so my world is small except for this forum. I ride alot, but most of my miles are commuting to work 90 miles round trip. I am wrapped up in my garage lifestyle, but it involves all my friends to be in it. I like all the aspects that we have the HAMB for reader invovlement, the garage for socializing and wrenching with friends and then the ability to drive/ride what we have done with all the above. Forgive the ramble, Woody
Maybe I'm blowing smoke, but I suggest there's a very important element in the mix that hasn't been mentioned yet. History.......What has gone before us. The cars, and men, and thier ideas, that have made rodding what it is today. Let us not allow thier deeds to fall behind. Roger
I am, but its not the roadster ...the roadster was just a nice 27 T body I had for sale and Joe bought it.
