It's got two holes in front near the gen, thats 8BA stuff. the gen holder looks like a Fenton. where did you find it?
will do........bought the whole setup just as you see it, the seller was in northwestern canada........i dont know if that matters but ive heard they made aluminum heads there?
Looks odd.All the tall manifolds I've seen or had (weiand, thickstun, edelbrock, harrel) the carbs are closer together. And the Ford style fittings below the rear carb... Did they say if it was aluminum? or cast iron? My guess from the picture? Home made, out of a stock intake.
Man, that's an odd duck. Great buy regardless. Edelbrock (which I'm pretty sure this isn't) "racing" hi-rise had the carbs spaced apart, but with taller runners. Plus, I'm 90% certain they didn't offer a 8BA version of that intake. Nice score, enjoy.
Cant say I have seen a highrise intake for an 8BA, and all the high rise ones I've seen have taller risers. Eric not sure that sharp made a high rise intake, wonder if its a after market named brand that has been modified? plenty of crazy stuff went one. and if as you say it came from an area that didnt have access to too much speed equipment then they were probably more likely to modify what they could get their hands on to suit what they wanted.
It would be interesting to strip the paint and see if there are signs of rework...the base does look very stock (Yes, there were aluminum Late Ford and late Merc manifolds, in Canada), and the general style of the manifold is early, like manifolds that went out of production before there were late flatheads. If it is a rework, it is exceedingly well crafted, but it sure looks like that.
here are some pic`s of the stock canadian aluminum(sp) 49 up manifold.the 2x2 manifold looks too proffesional to be a modified stocker.there were several canadian speed parts makers.(many more state side)
It appears from the pictures that there is welding around the base of the risers and through the center of the manifold, front of manifold looks like stock Canadian. So if thats welding I'm opting for modified stock. Great buy non the less. I've seen pairs of strombergs go for more than that.
