I came to the realization the bubbletop was not going to make it to Detroit. Plus I'm gonna need some cash to finish it too. So I decided to throw the sport coupe I have together for Detroit.

So far I've got a ch***is just about done. It's on 32 rails kicked front and back. The front is bobbed so the axle will hang just infront of the grill. Spring and everything else will be behind. It's got cutouts in the frame for the exhaust to run through right infront of the rear tire.

I got the chop done this weekend. Angled the windshield back a little and laid the B pillar forward just a little. Also rounded the back corner of the door to allow the top to flow better.

I haven't made up my mind on color yet...either black or dark maroon.

PS..I'll get back to the bubbletop as soon as this is done!

Here's the gauge panel I'm gonna use in it. Just have to find a sender for it.

Got some more done on the sport coupe last week.

Went a little crazy with the header above the windshield and the mirror bracket. It didn't look right till I drilled it....then what was I to do about a mirror with that hole in the middle.

Also reworked the area were the top goes behind the doors. When I decided to make a gl*** top for it I had to add some hieght to that area cause the door latches stuck up too high. Well ...I just added the extra beltline like a coupe has. I wonder how many people will notice.

Then things got real fun and I started on the top. Now it's starting to look like something. If there's interest I'll do a tech on how I did it. Tomorrow the buck should be done and I can startlaying the gl***.

I like how you leaned the windshield back. Looks like you are starting with a pretty solid car for once.

  7. You go, brother! I believe you can pull it off. I dig the guage cluster. What's it from?

Clark, if you haven't laid 'gl*** before on blueboard, be aware the resin will eat into the board big time. PM me for some tips on preventing. Keith

Spike..I only paid fitty cents for it all....I get my money back! :)

Kieth...I usually cover the bluboard with tape. this time I'm going to try friscet or whatever it's called. It's the stuff artist use to cover a large area and cut it out for designs. It's also what sign guys put their vynl lettering on.

Johnny...Most of the bodywork is done. Someone started to restore the car and got about 90 percent done. He p***ed away and his stepson sold it to me.

I plan to make a removable top for my Sport Coupe. Of course I moved mine back into storage yesterday. Family first , I guess. Glad to see you making progress. I'd like to see how you do your top.
