This may be a dumb question, but I've never had one in any of my cars. Last night I found what can only be a painted plastic radio blank for my '49 Ford (it was stuck down inside the door along with some other random crap...matches, door cranks, etc). I always assumed they were metal, but I guess I was wrong? It's actually pretty cool looking! Curt
The delete on my 57 was also plastic- And it would REALLY surprise me if anyone but the factory ever made deletes-
K-MEMBER has a chrome one for a 51 F-1(same as 49-50 Ford car) has F O R D in big letters, and fits perfect. We have used it many cars, F-1s and shoeboxs........OLDBEET
The one on my 40 Standard was steel.... embossed with ridges as I recall..... it's been a few years....
my 54 or so pontiac delete was chromed die cast or whatever the cast metal trim parts are. got it from canada, eh?
I've got a stack of stainless ribbed Studebaker radio deletes that I'm going to use somewhere! for something! some day!
[ QUOTE ] I have a metal 49-51 ford one with little ribbed designs [/ QUOTE ] That's what I was looking for...the ribbed design is cool, but I would want to weld and smooth it into place (so I was pretty bummed when I found out that I had one...and that it was PLASTIC!) Are you using the one that you have or would you want to sell it? Curt
