That's some funny stuff right there. Or maybe you reminded her of a lover once scorned.............................all those years ago.

I am so thankful that I don't have to wake up with some of the negitive looks I get. I do love it when a couple is next to me and the chick is smiling from ear to ear also with a winking eye and the significant other is getting pissed.....light changes I rev and he peels out in his Toyota.....LMFAO

  5. she probably called "shotgun" but got beat out by the youngin' in the front.

I wonder if the ricer crowd has this same discussion? I know I scowl when I pull up next to one !

You need to take that as a compliment. If you never piss off anybody, you need to think about that even more...

I think its kind of humbling when people take offence at your car. I mean when they comment positively on it your just like " yea i know its cool i built it". But when they get all pissed its very confusing and you have to figure out what there buggin about. Usually its nothing of importance and that just makes you think about how much cooler of a person you are than the rest of the crazies out there

I've had similar experiences with the 48 and the 51 Merc. Cruise down the road and some nifty gal is giving the car and me the eye while her male companion is oblivious while he motors along in his BMW 3 something. And the guy always gets torqued when he figures out what is going on.

  14. Some of you guys are real ambassadors for the hobby . . .and some aren't.

    Such is life.

Never had a problem, the ladies seem to like my 32 and I've heard more than a few interesting stories.
Most of them served up with a smile.

And . . .before you bash the little old ladies too much, give a listen to this:

See, usually I get a lot of positive looks and comments from those older than myself, many of whom remember someone who had one "just like that" (which always makes me smile to myself, except once the dude started talking about all the lead his buddy used and I realized he really did know someone with a car "just like that"). My favorite was a woman in her 60s in some tiny town in Oklahoma where I'd stopped for lunch. She said "Is that a Mercury? I had a boyfriend with a Mercury and it had windows like that" and she made a gesture like long and thin, and I thought holy cow, this woman dated a guy with a chopped merc back in the day!
I think this particular cranky older American just saw the flat black primer, thought "hot rod hooligan!" and that was that. It just struck me because it was so atypical. I still have a warm feeling 24 hours later though - she made me feel young and wild! That's the gift that keeps on giving.

  21. Over the summer I had an old lady about 80 something give me the thumbs up, I was surprised she even knew what it ment..lol

  22. Her look didn't have anything to do with your car... she probably had gas, or just found a leak in her Depends.

    Sam.

I always listen for the sound of door locks engaging when I pull up at a redlight on one of my scooters.

I'd do the same in my truck but the danged pipes are too loud to hear anything but ringing in my ears.

when i was younger i would scare old women and children alike in my 67 Chevy van that was all spray painted up and looked like i had parked it on the wrong side of town

  25. Back around 63-64, we used to backfire at old ladies, hell at anyone! The old turn the key off, floor it, turn the key back on trick. Trouble was we kept splitting mufflers!
