Yup, that's a brave dad right there to hold the wire while your son comes at you with both hands and a set of cutters/crimpers. :D

Got to stay with the "spirit" of the build here. Just about out of 6013 welding rod. Does that mean we are almost done??:D:D

    West side ? Guns ??;)

Looks good. If the radiator leaks you'll know what happened. You never weld near a radiator.

Okay, tonight my CHEESE-O-METER was pegged with the smile factor. I finally got to drive the bug. It's all the things a hot rod should be... It's a big engine in a small car, stupid fast and twice as loud, built in about 40 days by the coolest freakin guys on the planet. I don't have the words to say thanks to all the guys who helped resurrect this rolling box of mouse **** and take an old beater drag car to a superfun semi-beater street car.

The work is by no means done. The new firewall is still to come. The front end is coming up a bit yet and the new zoomies are still to come but not much else is changing. I bought this car because it was a VW and a SBC which are both giant no-no's to all the virtual hot rodders.

But the truth is that no car has ever meant this much to me and I seriously doubt that another car ever will. It's got very little to do with the car and everything to do with the hand's that brought it to life. Bubba's Garage is a place like no other. No place is more fun or more educational and no place is more selfless. I can't wait to return the favor on future builds...starting in about two weeks.

MONSTER THANKS to all of you guys!

Coop, I heard you've been given a challenge with the late return of chrome! I have faith in ya brother! THANK YOU for swapping those front wheels with me...and for the phenomenal polishing help!

I ended up with another set of those wheels and actually got complete sets of spinners for both sets of wheels. The other set is Ford pattern though so they still didn't help me on this car.

Keith, you aren't kidding. I'm still grinning as I type this. That car is a freakin blast. I think Bubba is right. Pictures don't do it justice. This car was a complete disaster. New brakes, lines, radiator, rebuilt engine, homemade shifter, retapping all bolt holes and adding new fenders and running boards, weatherstripping, new wiring, new lights, new carpet, better seat mounts, electric fan, new wheels, tires, primer, and a whole lot of unf*#king and mouse poop cleanup. It was an AMAZING amount of work in very short period of time by some really great people like yourself.

It was a lot of fun to take part in this build and it couldn't have been done for a nicer guy. We hope you have fun with it and enjoy it for years to come. It's something special to take an old car like that and give it another chapter in it's lifetime. I'm sure the car's grin matched scooby's. :)

WOW, a special thanks to all who came , hung out and worked on this project.
I am sure everyone enjoyed the project!
Scoobs grin is still burned into the cars side panels as he zoomed aroung the building. I somehow knew he couldnt idle around the shop and we all grinned when we heard the throttle open up a bit as he zinged the other buildings last night.
As with all "Bubba" projects we held the " Woodford Reserve" toast and opened and killed a new bottle right out of the freezer!!!
Stay tuned for a new post on the next wed evening project.
Next stop "Indy Motorama" car show.........:)

    Bubba,

Thanks for letting me and the other guys come out, get in the way and learn a few things. I really enjoy the time I have spent working on this car. I will always feel a sense of pride when Scoob pulls that thing into a show.

It really is cool that you open up your shop to anyone who wants to lend a hand. There just arent many folks out there these days willing to do this.

The only problem now is getting rid of me!!!;)

Take care...We'll see you next week!

I agree with Eagletucky, what a fun project and the group couldn't be better. I wish I could have been there every Wednesday, but other commitments prevented that. A big thanks to Bubba and all the guys for letting me be part of this build. Can't wait for the Motorama and the next hotrod night project.:D

Yeah Bubba, you are gonna have to invest in some serious dufus repellent to get rid of us during Walt's truck build and whatever is after that. Once you feed a stray cat...
