Ok, so I figured it was time to post some pics of what I have been working on.

Bought this falcon about a year and a half ago, and it sat for the better part of a year. I yanked the front clip, and vacated the engine bay. Everything from the doors forward was cleaned up and epoxied. While I was in there I recessed the headlight buckets by 2", with the intention of building a tubular stainless grill.

The motor is put back together, and all the re-wiring is now done. Last night I got the sheet metal bolted back into place and its starting to finally look like a car again.

Thought I might share a few pics of how it sits right now.

My plans at this point are to throw some bellflower tips on it. I was not crazy about the wheels that ended up on it, but I had them laying around. And somehow I think they really work on the car. Eventually I plan on radiusing the lower rear corners of the door skins, and re-painting the car. Its currently slated to get silver metal flake on the top, and a splash of color on the bottom. Not sure exactly what color just yet.

In the mean time I still need to drop the rear to match what I have dropped in the front. And I had pondered throwing some scallops on it similar to those featured on the "roller paint job" falcon that was in hotrod a few months back.

I'm also on the hunt for a suitable replacement bumper for the front of it. I'm not crazy about the falcon bumper thats on it. It uglies up the entire front end in my opinion. I have considered going with a comet bumper, but have not made my mind up yet.

Anyone have some examples of other creative front bumper treatments for these little cars?

Looks good! I like the wheels and recessed lights. Keep us updated when you paint it.

I should have grabbed some engine bay shots, but I forgot. It looks like new under there.

I believe the comet bumper is a few inches wider, so it's not a direct bolt on. I did see one once with a '69 Camaro blade that looked pretty clean.

  6. The stance on your falcon is killer, did you cut the front springs ? I'm just starting a 62' sport futura "long beach" car, and just last weekend I scored two 2-door wagons, a 61' and a 62'.For my futura I plan on using the 170 six and three speed combo, I'm allready getting about 26 or so miles to the gallon. What motor/tranny are you running? From an earlier post on the HAMB, there was a guy who used a 65' Valiant bumper and it looked killer, I'll try to find the post. By the way, more pictures please :D d.

    rust.

I'm running the 170 and 3 speed. Gutless I know, but the mileage as you stated is awesome. Its going to be my around town daily driver. So it works out perfect for me. These little cars are SOOOO cheap to keep on the road.

As for the springs I cut them 2 full coils. and cut the bump stops in half. Right now I have barely an inch of shock travel before they bottom out. So I either get to find shorter shocks, or space the shock towers up. I'll probably try and find lower shocks. Should not be hard with a little research. I also have a slight amount of rub as I turn, so I will probably have to "massage" the fender lips a little bit. But the look is exactly what I was after. Just trying to determine how I feel about the slight rake that is currently has. I plan on driving it for a bit, then deciding about whether to add lowering blocks or not.

I found the post with the valiant bumper. I believe he says its a '63

Looking good, and those 4 lug keystone (style wheel?) are fucking badass...hard to find also. If you do radius the rear wheel wells, cut some from the front of another falcon and use those..so they flow.

They are actually "Keystone Klassics." Didn't know that they were anything special.

  11. lookin good man!

  12. t-town,
Keep a rake on it, at least it'll look cool while sippin the fuel.
I found this great photo posted by Ray, moving the radius rod to the bottom of the control arm and relocating the shock mount there too.
That gets a lot of crap outta' the way.
You're right on the bumper, but later in the post he says it's a 65'.
Falcons are a great option for "economy" minded car folks, lots of style, easy to fix, and still plentiful.......at least out here.

I am in the same boat for figuring out a new bumper for my 62. I still got a ways to go till I get there...
here is an idea using a 57 T-bird bumper.

The blue station wagon is a 1960 Ranch Wagon.
Man, I wish I had it.

  16. Raven,
I wish........just a poor attempt at a "sedan delivery" copy, (if you look thru the drivers side window.)

I know that for the vans they had display vans, where one side had windows and one side was a delivery model. I wonder if they ever did that for the wagons? why else would someone do only one side?

What are your plans for those wagons? I could really use a tailgate for my 60 2 door wagon. Maybe some rear quarters too.

    jalopyshots, its a 62

rust: do you have any additional info or more pics on that shock relocation?

  20. t-town,
The post I pulled the picture was falconizers "baggin" post. Ray posted the picture, pm him, I got the impression that he's lowered a bunch of shit.....................
    2tall you have mail.
    Falconizer,
I think in this case the partial delivery was a project unrealized, the precut sheet metal panel is in the back for the drivers side. I thought about finishing the job but I love all the glass in these things..........
