I've though about them for my '51 Ford. But then again I know I would never use them, they would be there for show. I like the look of them, especially if there is striping around them, but I don't know how worth it they are.
After seeing live wire, I've been converted. I'm thinking about it for my coupe, as I really like how it looks.
I've got a Amp and oil pressure on my firewall, that is how it was done in 1957, the guys with lot's of money had a full set all across the firewall, anyway that's how I remember it lol "Doc"
I got a water temp and oil press on my 54. I think it looks good, i seem to spend a lot of time with the hood up with the car running before I leave for a ride. and this year, with trying to cool it between runs it helped to watch the temp while standing around. Frank
I had a buddy once who had an old dwell meter/tach he tore apart and installed in the firewall. I don't think it was really hardwired, tho. Very functional, but it just didn't look great, like a normal gauge installation. I always thought a tach on the firewall might be usefull for tuneups and carb work.
I had an ammeter under hood of my 75 Duster. It was cool when I was 18.... I like the look of them generally, I think it was a '60s thing? I still may do that on the 50 Burb, I have a nice flat area that needs something.
I have a tach under the hood of the Hup. Handy for carb setup and I couldn't find room inside to put it.
This setup will be mounted on my `32 Firewall . Not sure if I ever will need them , but I belive they will look cool Klaz
