Man, I don't know who enjoyed derby racin more me or my son. Here's some pics of ours. The "Indy" The "Snakester" The "Patriot" and The "EELCO Board" The Snakester and the EELCO Board was wicked fast and not only won the pack race but went on to take first at the district. The Patriot took a third and best of show. There definitely needs to be a HAMB derby race. I've been a line judge for three years runnin. Here's a pic of me officiating wearin a Tingler original. The kids really liked it.
hay our club was just thinking about doing a pinewood derby, we just talk to a few clubs in the area and they like the idea. i'll keep ya posted.................... to bad the HAMB Drags is to far away can't make it this year.
I remember making them when I was young. But they were never that cool! They kinda ****ed in fact! I still had a good time thought...
-My son and I are actually finishing up his this weekend. I have really had to throttle back, and remind myself that this is HIS car-and to let him build it how he wants...not, what I think will look the coolest, or be the fastest. I hear that some packs actually have Parent's races...just for this reason. So we can build our own cars. Cool *** pictures! Thanks for sharing.
Same here. My son did most of the sanding and drilling for weights. but I had a big part in the final paint finish. I defiantly felt guilty as well...
I got a lot of help tips from this web site: www.maximum-velocity.com My daughter took 1st place out of 40 cars in our church race (same as pinewood derby, just for our AWANA club) Some where along the way my son's axle got pushed in that his front wheel wouldn't turn, so he lost his first 2 races My son and daughter have taken 1st and 2nd the last 2 years, plus the 1st this year.
we put glue in the grooves with the nails just to try and keep the nails from moving because we had the same problem. with it getting pushed in
