I want to send my 6 97's to a reputable, well known shop to have them rebuilt. Actually I'd like to find some place that could chrome em and build em. I've searched on the forum but can't find any pertinent info. Any advice? R
Well two guys that I would use and not in any order, Josh at stromberg 97 and Matt at Fox Valley hotrods . Both were taught by the Very Best and carry on the tradition. Uncle max I hear is good but never used him or the folks around our area ???
Well............Uncle Max does excellent work as he did some work for me at a very reasonable price...........................on you have one of the alltime 97 experts who has sold more 97's world wide than Carter has Pills..............right here on the H.A.M.B.................. Strombergs97 in Sacramento...............and his work is totally beautiful About chroming carbs....................after the chroming there is a lot of work......equate that to $$$ because you have to lap all the surfaces again and ream holes.................as we always said when we were drag racing....................."If it don't go, then Chrome it". Talk to some of the builders and get their opinion and price first..................chromed carbs are a total pain unless you never intend to start the motor and run gas through them. IMHO
Matt at Fox Valley Hotrods does killer work. he did the carbs and intake on my flayhead and it was flawless, great guy to deal with

I'd recommend stromberg97 on here too. A friend of mine had some done by him, amazing work. I just do my own stuff. And then I rebuild and sell John Deere carbs and mags, and a few Harley mags.
Well, there are lots of good builders, as mentioned on here..It's up to you who you choose..That guy Strombergs97 does excellent work, not inexpensive but they will work, which is most important..Ask him for pictures.. Yes me Duane.
Thanks Greg I'm geting old and blind now what was I doing that's right making a Looouver Press..............
Reputable; yes. Well known; maybe. Chrome; uh-uh. Possibly North America's smallest Stromberg shop. If I need help, I use my other hand. 212 last year, no returns.
I've used Bob a Baxter Ford Parts In Lawrence Kansas many times and he always does a good job and they work. Reasonable to.
