I'm building a 454 for a friend, and he wants a stroker. In Summit Racing, there are rotating assemblies from Scat and Eagle. Does anyone have first hand knowledge of using these stroker kits? Their kit makes an approx. 490-500 cu in engine. I have never purchased these kits. How are they -good or bad? I believe the cranks and rods are overseas items, but am not sure. Your input please? Thanks We don't want to just purchase a 502 stocker for 3K because he wants slightly higher compression, cam, etc which means changing it.
Father and Brother used forged Eagle rotating assemblies in the 540s they built. Dad was easy on his, but my bro' punished his. 13.5:1 compression, huge solid roller, 360cc heads, dominator, and 250hp plate nitrous all in a 5000lb street driven truck. He tore up lots of stuff (primarily drive line) but never broke that engine.
I have a Scat crank and rods in my 489. Not alot of time on it yet. Just some dyno time (640hp/540ft-lbs) and a few 9 second blasts at the track. So far so good.
