Well, is it possible to lower an F1 without changing the entire frontend out? I am going thru the mII conversion on my 53 F-100, and I'd rather not do it on my F1 too. I'm going to do the 3" axle drop, but I need 2-4 more inches!

I know that dropping the axle more than 3" is outta the question, so what other options are there? Any spring options? Frame alteration? I don't need "performance handling" but I want it to be safe with my kids riding in it-it's my driver. I can deal with a rough ride, and my kids get a kick out of it.

Gotta 400 pontiac with auto and nine inch rear if any of that matters

I can handle machinework and sheetmetal, but suspension is a complete mystery to me. I searched the archives, and unless I'm more retarded than I am aware, I can't find any info.

    Thanks fellas, F'n-100

I have 51 f1 with a 2 1-2 inch droped axle. front springs removed leaves for a total of 7 i think you could go to 6. also a rev eye main leafs will bring it down more. poises has a 2 leaf front spring that will bring it down. you end up with the same height at 350.00. you can rev your own main leafs you have to noch rear spring pockets . or axle on top of spring. shorter shocks in front will be needed. my 2c.

I lowered my 50 with just removing a couple of springs wich I thought
it brought it down quite a bit but not slammed so with a 3'' dropped axel
I would think it would be down there and I also agree that reversed eyes
or mono leaf would work great I am going through the same challenge but
removing the springs put me down on the bump stops probably 1/4'' away
or less. By the way all the plateing only cost $200.00 at the Portland
    Swapmeet.

If you are trying to stay with the stock drag link and steering box the larger drop will be a problem. I did not drop my 49 that much but went with the Jaguar XJ6 IFS. I am sure that they were made for F-1 conversions! To get it down 4-6 inches would reqire custom coil springs.

I picked the brains of some ford truck guys when I went to lower my 56 F-100. The general consensus is that the best stock drop you can get is by removing three springs. #2, #4, and #6

Man, thanks guys. That is exactly what I was looking for.

Any one of the combos seen as better than others?

Is there an Alliance vendor that would be a source for the Posies parts? I'd rather spend the money with the Alliance guys.

    And thanks again, F'n-100
