About ready to tear her apart - any hard-learned lessons anyone want to pass on before I take the air-chisel to her? Is this too ordinary or would anyone be interested in pics of the process?
This guy has. It is looking awesome so far, even if it does have a SBC. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=189659
waht kind of build? l have a 50 five window and the way l did it was to graft a 77 sub frame to my oringal frame,, the problem was l had to cut the firewall out for the small block chevy to fit,, had to move the firewall back 6" and 4" one each side, yes post pictures while building and when done. here is one l found while surfing around ,, is your's a 3 or 5 window?,,J
Now I'm confused - I was told it was a 52, but it doesnt have the split window... I'm thinking I may have a 54 now... time to scrape some crap away and try to find a sticker somewhere... where should i look? btw this is gonna be my first "real" build - gonna be on bags and Im gonna rebuild that little flat 6, too. I hold you all directly responsible for this.
http://dodgeclassictrucks.com/ The is a good website for info and ideas..Im building a 56 Dodge truck...Mines on a 94 caprice chassis...
I am doing a 48.. has a Mustang II front suspension under it.. a BBC is mocked into position but probably coming out for a 392 hemi.. I have a 9" for the back and had planned to run a chevy truck trailing arm but may end of doing a 4 link. It is getting bagged in the rear, front is undecided as the bumper is almost touching now.. (it would easily with bags)
just a heads up if anyone needs parts, there's a pretty nice 52? 5 window with a flatbed in the ecology junk yard in oceanside ca. if i had the space/time/money/etc. i would of bought the whole thing as it was pretty cool looking and very complete, well at least it was about a week ago. it will probably only be there about a month before it goes to scrap so if anybody needs something they better get it soon.
The blue one way up in the air is a 50, with a few changes in the nose piece the remainder of the truck is basiclly the same from 49 to 53. A 54 and early 55 are like the teal green truck (low one). Notice the straight windshield post, this was the first of the Dodge trucks with a one piece windshield. Mid year 54 (May) was when the V8 was first available in Dodge trucks. Mid 55 and 56 had a dogleg in the windshield post giving it a wrap around one piece windshield. Other then the modified windshield, roof, and doors the rest of the truck was basicly unchanged from the 54 & mid 55 trucks. 57 was a stand alone body style truck, having changed the front sheet metal. I've always thought these trucks were cool looking. My great uncles stuck an early small-block chevy in one, which I know is considered a cop out nowadays, but back in the day, they were just punk kids looking to soup up dad's old farm truck. I need to find some pictures of that thing.
