maybe just "Y-not"? I got this engine and 98% of it and not sure if i should sell it. They're kinda cool and cheap. I've got 7 year old twins who may want it for a project. I've seen more and more of them in the mags on worked up for a cool mill. I dunno. what's your thoughts?
Not enough info to go on. For example, a Dearborn-built 239 is sufficiently different from all other Y blocks that unless you are doing an original '54 restoration, it makes little sense to modify one...too much money, too much time to find certain parts, and at the end of the day, it's still a 239 c.i. engine. I'm not particularly fond of the Cleveland 239 either, but at least everything fits it (for the most part). On the other hand, a 272, 292, or 312 make excellent street engines and can be built to perform very well. Not as cheap as a SBC to rebuild, but what first-gen vintage OHV engine is?? Transmissions can be an issue, depending on your desires, but there is a solution to use almost anything...just takes some money and/or ingenuity.
