I think it's about time I create a thread for this one. I started with a '28-'29 Model A "special" coupe that my uncle gave me for a high school graduation present. I'm 20 now and going to college, and there's not a better way to get a car built than to live in the shop it's being built in. I've got a loft above the garage floor that is my humble abode.

The doors were sprung so bad they wouldn't even shut half way, and there was no rear roof section. Before it got chopped three inches, I removed the doors and we welded the roof to the quarters. RacerJohnson and I put in a sedan rear window, and proceeded to put the body on the frame. I had pie cut the frame a la tuckster build- "till it looks right". I've got a drilled '37 axle in front with '37 'bones, and F-1 brakes.

I'm planning on either making a visor or finding one- I'd like a '30-'31 visor because it's smaller. I've got one on my '31 sedan body, but I don't know if I want to rob it quite yet. In these pics my wheels are borrowed, but I will get the same front tires (5.00x16 ribbed) and mount them onto 16x4" early ford steelies. I've got a pair of 16x5" rears for which I'll get a pair of 7.50x16's. I bought a 10 gallon Moon tank on Ebay, traded the dash rail for a good cowl/gas tank, and put that Harley gauge panel into the dash. I also got a decklid skin from Howell's and striped it one nite when there was a fresh case of beer in the fridge. It'll get de-striped, louvered, then re-striped someday.

Plans are for a flathead with a dual carb intake and two 97's. I've got those already. 3 speed toploader, lakes style headers and cowl steering are a must. A banjo rearend and closed driveshaft finish off the driveline. I hope to have more pics up in the next couple weeks as my front spring is coming in the big brown truck. Thanks for looking!

I dig the guage panel. I've never quite seen that done before, and now I wonder why.

It is crome plated- I didn't weld it to the dash but thanks for thinking that! I took some 3/8" rod and bent it to the shape of the panel, then welded that in and ground it smooth. The panel had a gap between it and the dash, so instead of putting a thick rubber peice in there, I brought the dash out to meet the panel. It's a '37-'39 "skull" panel. The cat eye ones might be too long to use, as the part extending past the switch hole is at least an inch/ inch and a half longer. It depends on how far you want it to hang under the dash. I went with the shorter one because I didn't want it to be super long and get in the way of my knees. I'll post up a pic of the rod I put in.

Here are a couple pics of the rod that I welded in...
I'm still going to finish it and weld in the top section- I just got more of those little 3M roloc discs today so that might happen soon!
