I recently posted pics of the chop....I did not weld the top back on yet, instead I had a friend make a roll cage for the car. While it does not follow any rule book, it was built just as much for looks as safety. 100% tig welded too.

    The chop from last month:

chopped 6", thanks for the compliments but remember the cage is not my work though.

Dirty2....Its ironic you posting, it was your car at the HAMB drags two years ago that got me going
    on this project.

Ya, that is *****in'!! I'm planning on runnin' a cage in my tudor sedan as well. Your friend did a great looking job.

About how many hours invested in building that cage? Approximate feet of tubing used? (spec's on the tubing?)

    Glen,

Having be a Tech inspector for SCCA/NHRA (sometime ago) I would say the cage would stand up to any inspection.
Was it built from DOM and what wall thickness.
Your friend did a pardon the pun.................a bang up job!

I will be taking my Coupe to Weedetr next week for the gas tank and a full interior cage....
not sure how much room I will have left...................but if I want to run in anything other that the street cl*** at El Mirage I will need one.

    Great Job

  18. Any car that has a lid lower then the chopper front end in the background is cool in my book. Tell your friend that he does VERY nice work. Keep us posted with more pictures. I'm going to be build a 31 Chev Two door sedan built to LSR specs for the street (and hopefully some salt racing) and this is great inspiration. Jaysin

Yes, a lot of that bare steel tubing you see gets cut out after I weld the top back on. I can get a measurement tonight, PM me exactly what you want.

No, I know he didnt save any dimensions.

The motor is a 396, brodix aluminum heads, mucho compression, blah blah.

    GLEN... Looking sweet..

I am at the exact same stage in my build and I'm curious if you are going to tie into the frame or go with the oversized based plates you currently have.

Trouble I'm running into is there is little room for body mounts and cage mounts in the A/B pillar areas.

I might switch gears altogether and rebuild my sub floor to try and make body mounts and cage mounts into one piece, s**** the body bushings, and reinforce the sub frame areas with sleeve and sandwhich it all together with a 1/4 or 1/8" layer of rubber.
