    Sam,

Congrats on the body man. That looks like a decent start. If 2K sounds fair now, wait 5 years. You'll have stolen it by then.

I didn't realize that was you at Nashville the other day until after you had walked off. Sorry if I was kinda out of it. I was trying to figure out who in the hell you were.

Paul Ellis Ford Parts (just down the road from me) has some doors. They may be Tudor doors though. Price wasn't too bad though. I can't remember exactly but I remember it was fair. I'll check on them tomorrow.

Let me know if you need anything down this way.

It's been sitting behind his house with a piece of plywood on top of it with a tire on it to hold it down. I know it's been there for at least twenty years! I've actually "Begged" him to sell it to me!He told me a couple of weeks ago, he wanted to make sure first that he didn't need any parts from it for the "other one" he has, and if not, it was mine! Just hope i can afford it, he knows what they are bringin', but he is pretty cool! He also has 2 complete '34 Plymouth 5-windows that he won't even talk about selling! My chin hits the ground everytime i see them!

Everybody states the obvious..... "buy a skin, buy a skin, buy a skin".... but, who do you know who has an English Wheel? You say you have plenty of beer.... bribe this E-Wheel owner into giving you the 10 minute instruction. Then waste some 18ga and make some good profile gauges from the "good" door. Before you know it you'll have a home-made skin, made by your own little hands. The first door skin I made took 3 hours. I can make one in about half an hour now, not counting braking the edges and cutting hinge notches. D.I.Y.!!!!

    P***enger door? That'll just add weight! :p

I wonder- does a doorless rod, if it's nicely done up and all that, count as a hot rod or a rat rod?

    If that car could talk....

I think that it's neat that it was an old racer. It had a huge pushbar up front, and there was a bumper welded to the roof.

You can see the remains of some old lettering on the side.

yeah the entire front frame, cow catcher grille/pushbar ,stock axle etc is sitting at my dads ..

...i wish i could make out what it sez on the side,,,looks like "morts shop"???? maybe?????

unfortunatlly, acording to the guy i got it from, he had no clue other than it was an ex-dirt tracker from indiana and ".......? shop" was the name of the shop that the guy who raced it owned,,, and that his dad has owned since the late 50's/early 60's, he wasnt sure as he was older than me,but said the car had always been in his family since before he could rember....

of course,,,,this will be a LOOONG term project,,,but the car has the original dirt track early 50's chevy truck steering wheel ,column gearboxa nd i do plan on keeping the steering wheel and coulmn as part of the build,,i think that would be so freakin cool,,,,,would like to run the factory 34 axle too,but have it dropped,,i think that will really help the karama :D

i actually got it that monday after posting that thread,
but didnt finally bring it home from my dads untill this past weekend,,,

and even them my merc was on jack stands parked diagnoally in the garage, so i couldnt really mess with it...other than a lil free time sunday night wire wheeling the paint off the quarter and cowl to see what was under the paint :)

i just now tonight had a chance to sorta mock it up as the patch panels i ordered were on the porch when i got home.

    i am happy:)

    Sam,

    I've found a '33 5wd coupe door & a '34 5wd coupe door. Don't know which fits which side yet though.

The '33 is $1000 & the '34 is $1200. Both are supposed to be excellent.

    DAMN!!!
